20 10 Reading Advisory Committee on Cities for Climate Protection Program <br />Committee Notes for November 10, 2010. 7PM (Next Meeting - December 1 at Town Hall) <br />Present were Ray Porter, Tracy Sopchak, Tony Capobianco, Joan Boegel, Dave Williams and. Rpn Daddario. <br />Meeting opening -Chair Ray Porter opened the meeting. <br />Minutes - The minutes of the November 3 meeting were tabled. <br />Other Business to add to agenda - Joan received an email from Charles at Job Gre n` r garding <br />graduate student, Boyd White researching challenges to joining the Massachusetts Green Communities <br />initiative. Gina or Tracy will speak with Charles. A potential $1000 grant available from Genzyme for <br />employees involved in community activities. Agreed that if received, grant money would be distributed <br />between EMARC & Cambridge HEET. <br />Home Energy Efficiency Actions - HEET: Gina sent an email from the committee hotmail <br />account provided information and waiver form for barnraising volunteers. Committee looking for about <br />20 volunteers, 30 would get too crowded. Cambridge HEET will be in attendance with Audrey and <br />Jason serving as team leaders. Mike (mason) displayed interest, but may have a schedule conflict. <br />Forbes Little an additional team leader. Audrey is attempting to raise additional team leaders. Ron and <br />Joan have procured most equipment needed for barnraising. Materials provided by Cambridge HEET or <br />requested of volunteers: Caulk guns, safety glasses, trowels, buckets, hand saws, power drill, measuring <br />tape, utility knife, spray bottle, wire brushes, show vac, staple gun, drop light, head lamps, step ladder. <br />Committee to provided outlet pads for insulation. Food: Tracy-cookies, Joan-veggie platter/water/juice, <br />Ray-hermits, Tony-calzone, Dave-donuts. MassSave will arrive following Friday for attic insulation. <br />Business 1-2-3 Pledge - No updates. <br />Climate Outreach Programs - Reading energy panel discussion is on November 16 - Joan & <br />Tony will represent the committee. Plan for panel discussion involves slide show consisting of a focus <br />on weatherization and our own home experiences. Need a quick turnaround on photos taken at <br />barnraising. RMLD will discuss electric programs and efficiencies and Water Authority will <br />demonstrate conservation measures and programs. Joan will contact Eileen Barrett from library <br />regarding expected crowd turnout. This will provide an opportunity to seek volunteers for free blower <br />door test. Ray will be in the back of the room with a sign-up sheet. Outlet covers and pencils provided <br />at barnraising and also panel discussion. There's a chance a blower door test may be performed at the <br />Mattera Cabin in January. No update on Sustainability workshop or Dianne Dumanoski. <br />Climate Action Plan Updates -Green Sense: Dave and Ron have article in to Advocate and <br />working on another. Gina has an article on green Thanksgiving tips. We should be good on articles <br />through November. No updates on other items. Next meetings have been posted and will be in the lower <br />conference room on 12/1 & 12/15. <br />Other Business - Covered above. <br />
