March 24, 20 10 Reading Advisory Committee on Cities for Climate Protection Program <br />Committee Notes for March 24, 2010. 7PM (Next Meeting - April 14 at Town Hall) <br />Present were Gina Snyder, Tracy Sopchak, Ron Taupier, Joan Boegel and Stephanie Andenccrg <br />Meeting opening - Chair Tracy Sopchak opened the meeting. ~ t,, <br />Minutes - The minutes of the March 10 meeting were approved. <br />z i ° 2 <br />Other Business to add to agenda - none. <br />School's Action on "no-idling" - We received a copy of the Board of Selectmen declaration. <br />Parker Student carpools - Ron D. was contacted by the Parker assistant principal. He had been <br />invited to the parent teacher conference next week, to talk about the possibility of carpool matching. <br />Friends & Family Day - June 19 - our committee plans to host a booth. Need to fill out and <br />turn in the application, and think about this year's pledge. One idea could be on weatherization, and on <br />the pledge form we could ask for email addresses of the people who are interested in helping out at <br />HEET events. <br />350.org plans for October - Review of last year's events. Considering ideas for this year, such <br />as another sustainability workshop, and work with other groups in town. October 10, 2010 will be the <br />planetary day of climate action. <br />Action Item Yearly Goals Progress Updates - Earth Day Fair: Lots of participants have signed <br />up; some are new for this year. Advertising is underway. We went over day-of logistics. Might want to <br />do an evaluation form for our vendors to give feedback after the event. the event will run from 11 to 3. <br />We need to check if we can put up posters at the 4/6 election polling place. Need to post flyers around <br />town. <br />School Climate Change Education: Gina has prepared kits for the RMHS library. <br />MassRIDES: Tracy sent in our partnership application. <br />HEET: At the Earth Day fair, we will have a sign up sheet for HEET interest and will have the HEET <br />movie playing on a laptop. <br />Green Sense - no update. <br />Community no-idling campaign: no update. <br />Municipal energy efficient buildings/ Green Communities: no update. <br />CCP Benchmark update - no update. <br />Business 1-2-3 Pledge: discussion on what sort of program maintenance is required, and possible ways <br />to implement the program and recognition. <br />RCTV: Beginning to think about the next episode theme. No-idling is a possible topic. <br />Other Business - None. <br />
