Council on Aging Board Meeting <br />Senior Center Pearl Street School <br />July 10, 1989 <br />Present: Gladys Cail, Loretta Spaulding, Ginny Lane, Frank Day, <br />Diane Guilfoyle, Bill Driscoll-Patrons representative, Lois Bond <br />Absent: Linda Nordberg, Dot Foxon, Irving Stackpole <br />Meeting was called to order at 6:35 P.M. by Chairperson Gladys <br />Cail at the Senior Center, Pearl Street School. <br />Minutes of the June meeting were accepted on a motion by Loretta <br />Spaulding and seconded by Ginny Lane. 5-0-0. <br />Treasurer's Report - none <br />Director's Report <br />Director's Report was reviewed. The Statistical Report for June <br />will be available at the next meeting. <br />Mystic Valley Elder Services Board of Directors voted to <br />eliminate community transportation from the budget therefore <br />Reading's Shopping Assistance program will be terminated. Lois is <br />going to rewrite grant slanted towards the servicing of the hear- <br />ing and vision impaired which is a MVES priority. <br />Old Business <br />Bill Driscoll reported the Senior Center Location Study Committee <br />submitted to Board of Selectmen a draft letter indicating the <br />Central Fire Station as the preferred site. The Committee now <br />awaits a reply from the Board of Selectmen. The Location Com- <br />mittee feels COA should take under consideration forming a com- <br />mittee to advise on building design. <br />Summer Events - (1) This coming Wednesday is the block dance at <br />Cedar Glen where Board Members will help. Hoodsies, lemonade and <br />cookies will be served. (2) August 16 will be the cookout at <br />Peter Sanborn. <br />New Business <br />Food distribution which will be conducted from the mealsite is on <br />September 21, 1989 on a first come, first served basis. Excep- <br />tions will be made for those people who receive Meals-on-Wheels <br />or people who have no other means of getting food. <br />Ginny Lane reported on behalf of the Nominating Committee.,The <br />following slate of officers was unanimously accepted: Gladys <br />Cail: chairperson; Loretta Spaulding, Vice-Chairperson; Dorothy <br />Foxon: Secretary; Ginny Lane: Treasurer. <br />
