Council on Aging Board Meeting Senior Center Pearl Street School July 10, 1989 Present: Gladys Cail, Loretta Spaulding, Ginny Lane, Frank Day, Diane Guilfoyle, Bill Driscoll-Patrons representative, Lois Bond Absent: Linda Nordberg, Dot Foxon, Irving Stackpole Meeting was called to order at 6:35 P.M. by Chairperson Gladys Cail at the Senior Center, Pearl Street School. Minutes of the June meeting were accepted on a motion by Loretta Spaulding and seconded by Ginny Lane. 5-0-0. Treasurer's Report - none Director's Report Director's Report was reviewed. The Statistical Report for June will be available at the next meeting. Mystic Valley Elder Services Board of Directors voted to eliminate community transportation from the budget therefore Reading's Shopping Assistance program will be terminated. Lois is going to rewrite grant slanted towards the servicing of the hear- ing and vision impaired which is a MVES priority. Old Business Bill Driscoll reported the Senior Center Location Study Committee submitted to Board of Selectmen a draft letter indicating the Central Fire Station as the preferred site. The Committee now awaits a reply from the Board of Selectmen. The Location Com- mittee feels COA should take under consideration forming a com- mittee to advise on building design. Summer Events - (1) This coming Wednesday is the block dance at Cedar Glen where Board Members will help. Hoodsies, lemonade and cookies will be served. (2) August 16 will be the cookout at Peter Sanborn. New Business Food distribution which will be conducted from the mealsite is on September 21, 1989 on a first come, first served basis. Excep- tions will be made for those people who receive Meals-on-Wheels or people who have no other means of getting food. Ginny Lane reported on behalf of the Nominating Committee.,The following slate of officers was unanimously accepted: Gladys Cail: chairperson; Loretta Spaulding, Vice-Chairperson; Dorothy Foxon: Secretary; Ginny Lane: Treasurer.
