Board of Health Meeting <br />August 8, 1991 <br />The Board of Health held its regularly scheduled meeting at <br />7:00 p.m. on August 8, 1991 in the Berger Room of the Town Hall, <br />16 Lowell Street, Reading. Present were Chairman Jim Nugent, and <br />Board Members Paul Caselle and Cathy Baranofsky. Also in atten- <br />dance was the Director of Human Services, Ruth Cogan. <br />Under the first order of business the Board held an election <br />of its officers. By of vote of 3:0, Jim Nugent was reappointed <br />as Chairman of the Board, and Paul Caselle was reappointed Vice <br />Chairman. <br />The next order of business included a revision of the June <br />13, 1991 minutes to include "In addition, they are to close in <br />instances of flooding" - the final sentence of the third <br />paragraph, page two, under Old Business. The minutes were ap- <br />proved as amended, 3:0. <br />A report of progress from the Town Engineer, William <br />Robertson was presented to the Board. Mr. Robertson outlined for <br />the Board the changes to the intersections at Washington and Main <br />as well as a new proposed intersection from the parking lot of <br />Burger King/Reading Liquors to Main Street which would result in <br />closing off the end of Ash Street near Bolton. The Town Engineer <br />further stated that the project, fully funded, would cost <br />$320,000. <br />Next the Board of Health met with two representatives from <br />the Conservation Commission, Camille Anthony and Jim Biller, to <br />discuss revisions to the Aquifer Protection District. Mr. Biller <br />stated that he would like Conservation to do a series of articles <br />in the newspaper in order to educate the public as to the loca- <br />tion of the A.P.D., explain its purpose, and to take a look at <br />the district to see if it works the way that it should. <br />Several concerns about the district were brought up for dis- <br />cussion such as, underground oil tanks, application of chemicals <br />to the Meadowbrook Golf Club, having the availability of sewer in <br />this part of town as well as an alternative fuel source. <br />The Director stated that she has just received Grant money <br />in order to hold a Hazardous Waste Day in the Fall. <br />Next the Board met with Carol Pizzotti, a representative of <br />Reading Youth Baseball, regarding a complaint from Peter Kramer <br />on the issue of the food being sold at the Little League Shack. <br />The Director noted that an inspection was done, a license was <br />issued, and everything was in order. She added that the food <br />service applicant will have a restricted menu until a sink is in- <br />stalled. In addition she also noted that they have until the end <br />of August to comply with that request. Following the discussion <br />the Board voted, 3:0 in favor, that the license issued to Reading <br />
