Minutes <br />October 14, 1993 <br />The Board of Health met at 5:23 pm, Thursday, October 14, 1993_in <br />the Berger Room of Town Hall. Present were :Chair Cathy,,-: <br />Baranof sky, Vice Chair Bill Murphy, member James Nugent and <br />Director Ruth Cogan. <br />The minutes of July 15, 1993 were approved 3:0:0 on a motion by <br />Murphy, seconded by Baranofsky. <br />The minutes of July 26, 1993 were approved 3:0:0 on a motion by <br />Nugent, seconded by Murphy. <br />The minutes of October 5,1993 were approved 3:0:0 on a motion by <br />Murphy, seconded by Baranofsky. <br />A discussion was held about potential changes to the Animal <br />Regulations. A public hearing will be scheduled for the November <br />meeting, copies will be sent to Math, Nitzche and Folger who had <br />expressed interest in the past. <br />A discussion was held concerning the adoption of regulations con- <br />cerning application review fees. The intent would be to use them <br />for review of biotechnology applications, closure of the <br />landfill, Title V applications, etc. A public hearing will be <br />scheduled for the November meeting. <br />The letter from the Food Pantry was discussed. They are request- <br />ing a letter of support for two issues as they are applying to <br />become members of the Boston Food Bank. The Board voted 3:0:0 to <br />support their application concerning shelves less than six inches <br />from the floor and food cabinets which are not locked. <br />The draft report for the Well Subcommittee of the Water Supply <br />Protection Task Force was reviewed. The Board decided that they <br />did not feel that it was necessary to change the existing well <br />regulations at this time. <br />Other business: Cogan noted that she had received verbal com- <br />munication that the Town had been approved for the full amount <br />requested for the Tobacco Control Grant, $35, 150. <br />Cogan noted that Wingate at Reading Nursing Home is no longer <br />donating nursing time or sharps disposal for the flu clinics. <br />She is in the process of finding a new source for the donation of <br />sharps containers and disposal as there is no money budgeted for <br />this item. <br />Cogan noted that she had been selected by the National Environ- <br />mental Health Association to attend a three day training session <br />in Washington D.C. on radon gas.
