Minutes <br />April 7, 1994 <br />The Board of Health meeting came to order at 5:25 pm in the <br />Berger Room of Town Hall. Present at the meeting were Chair <br />Cathy Baranofsky, Vice Chair Bill Murphy, staff Ruth Cogan and <br />guest Brad Latham. <br />Preliminary Subdivision Beacon Street - A brief presentation was <br />made by Brad Latham. A motion was made by Murphy, seconded by <br />Baranofsky to approve the plan with the following conditions: <br />1) Deep observation holes be dug in the spring witnessed by an <br />agent of the Board of Health. Minimum cellar floor elevations <br />are to be two feet above high groundwater levels. <br />2) The water service is to be tied into Grandview if possible, <br />i.e., if there is no ledge, the grades are acceptable. <br />Motion passed 2:0:0. <br />The minutes of March 10 were passed 2:0:0. <br />Baranofsky and Murphy both signed the pledge for the Drug Free <br />Weekend. <br />Cogan gave an update on a recent incident of a manager of Cumber- <br />land Farms smoking in the store. She presented a timeline of <br />past incidents and enforcement since 1990. The Board instructed <br />Cogan to set up a hearing to discuss the suspension of the retail <br />food and milk licenses of Cumberland Farms for May 3, 1994. <br />Cogan gave an update on the activities of the Tobacco Control <br />Program. She had met with Lt. Silva of the Police Dept and set <br />up a compliance monitoring program for all businesses which sell <br />cigarettes over the counter or through vending machines. <br />Murphy had taught the chokesaver course to 21 Reading restaurant <br />employees the past week.
