i <br />Town of Reading <br />Reading, Massachusetts 01867-2693 <br />(617) 942-0500 <br />RECREATION DEPARTMENT <br />16 LOWELL STREET <br />RECREATION COMMITTEE <br />MINUTES <br />The meeting of the Recreation Committee came to order at 7:40 PM <br />at Room 204 of the Old South Methodist Church on Wednesday, <br />November 1, 1989. Present at the meeting were Committee members <br />Fallon, Kaminer, Fotino, Sullivan, Conover, McGrath, Swymer, <br />O'Connor, Pacino, Mullen, Williams and Warnock. Also was staff <br />member Cogan as well as Sandy Trainer.. <br />A motion was made by Fotino and seconded by Swymer to approve the <br />minutes of October 11, 1989 as presented. The motion passed <br />4:0:2. A motion was made by Swymer and seconded by O'Connor to <br />approve the minutes of the Supervisor Subcommittee meeting of Oc- <br />tober 6, 1989 as presented. Motion passed 3:0:0. A motion was <br />made by Pacino and seconded by Kaminer to approve the Budget Sub- <br />committee meeting of October 25, 1989 as presented. Motion was <br />passed 2:0:0. A motion was made by Kaminer and seconded by <br />Pacino to approve the minutes of the Master Park Plan Subcom- <br />mittee of October 30, 1989 as presented. Motion passed 2:0. <br />Summer Girls Basketball Camp - Cogan noted that Leyton was unable <br />to attend the meeting but forwarded a written proposal. The fol- <br />lowing suggestions/questions were presented: <br />1.) The age level should be those girls going into middle <br />school grades. <br />2.) What is the proposed cost? <br />3.) Is Mr. Leyton aware of the 15% fee back to the Town? <br />4.) The scheduling of the girls gym needs to be checked as <br />it is used by the "C" camp for rain dates. It was suggested that <br />it be scheduled in the afternoon. <br />Mr. Leyton was invited back to the next meeting to discuss these <br />issues with the Committee. <br />Discussion about the summer special needs program was tabled as <br />there was no one present at that time. <br />Open Recreation Policies - A consensus was reached that basket- <br />balls would be given out to participants with a license held as <br />1 <br />
