RECREATION COMMITTEE
MINUTES
MARCH 14, 1990
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Fallon at 7:32. In
attendance were members Fotino, Connelly, Pacino, Kaminer, and
Swymer, associate members Mullin, McGrath, Conover and Sullivan,
Recreation Supervisor Giordano, and citizens William Carroll and
Peter Moscaiello. (Ruth Cogan at 9:OOP.M.)
First order of Business was the approval of Minutes of Recreation
meeting of February 19,1990. Motion for approval by Pacino.
Seconded by Fotino 6-0-0.
A letter with payment from Peter Moscariello for February
Baseball camp was reviewed.
Peter Moscariello spoke before the Committee concerning summer
baseball clinic to be called "Reading Baseball School". Dates
requested were Mon. July 2, Tues. July 3, Thurs.- Sat. July
5,6,7. The times would be from 9 until 2. He requested use of
Field House and one or two small diamonds. It would be a program
for youngsters ages 6-12 and the tuition would be $80.00.
At this time Giordano provided positive feedback about the
program as did member Connelly.
Motion to approve the Baseball School with the 15% fee and proper
accounting record to Recreation Committee moved by Pacino,
seconded by Fotino 6-0-0.
William Carroll spoke before the Committee Concerning Summer Bas-
ketball School. He requested the Field House from June 25 until
June 30 from 8:45 A.M. until 3:30. Giordano mentioned the pos-
sibility of a late school closing (June 25 for students, and June
26 for Faculty). This was based on a conversation with the Su-
perintendent of School's office. This date seemed unlikely in
the opinion of many members of the committee. However, if the
date causes a problem, alternative dates will be examined.
Motion to approve the request for a Basketball School with the
15% fee and appropriate bookkeeping was moved by Swymer, seconded
by Fotino 6-0-0. .
William Carroll has some questions concerning the Softball
Schedule which were answered.
Sub-committee Reports:
Joseph Connelly chair of the Field Sub-committee made the report.
He stressed that the first page was very important detailing the
gt
1 use of Sturgis Park and Batchelder Field.
1
