June 13, 1990 <br />A meeting of the Recreation Committee was called to order at <br />7:35p.m. by Chairman J Fallon. Members present were C. Swymer, <br />J.Connelly, C. Kaminer, M. Williams, J. Pacino, Associate Members <br />F. Conover, T. McGrath, J. Mullen & S Sullivan and citizen <br />Sharon Graves. <br />First order of business was the approval of minutes of May 19. <br />Motion to accept by J. Pacino, seconded by C. Kaminer. 6-0 <br />unanimous. Next was the approval of minutes of May 24. C. <br />Kaminer moved to accept. C. Swymer seconded passed 4-0-2 <br />abstained. <br />Under Citizen Input, Sharon Graves made a presentation to use the <br />Town Pool for Water Aerobics. Her presentation was to use the <br />pool after hours 1 or 2 weekdays or 1 weekday and Saturday morn- <br />ing. She would like to run 4 week sessions. Ms. Graves asked <br />for direction in running the program in Reading. She felt it <br />would be successful since she has run it in Wakefield with much <br />success. Many questions and concerns were brought up including <br />how it would be funded, who would be responsible for lifeguards, <br />advertising. Mr. Pacino made a motion to go along with running <br />the Graves Water Aerobics Classes as previous programs are run. <br />Let Ms. Graves charge what she wants , she will be responsible <br />for lifeguards and any extrodinary expenses; Recreation will get <br />150 of gross to go in the Revolving Fund. Classes to be at <br />8:00p.m. Wed. and Sat. morning to be determined by the Recreation <br />Supervisor. Mr. Pacino motioned to approve, seconded by C. <br />Swymer. Passed 6-0 <br />The next order of business was a letter from Joan Lawrence of the <br />YMCA requesting pool usage. The Y was asking for 2:00 -2:45 and <br />3:00 - 3:45 for public swim at the same cost as last year - $.50 <br />per 45 minutes. Discussion followed on whether to increase the <br />fee this year. Red Sneakers is paying $10.00 per student for 45 <br />minutes per 3 week session. J. Pacino moved to allow the YMCA to <br />use the pool. 6-0 unanimous. C Swymer motioned to allow $.50 per <br />45 minutes session for the YMCA - seconded by M. Williams, with <br />stipulation that next year they be informed of price increase. <br />Passed 6-0. <br />Also under correspondence was a letter from REd Sneakers request- <br />ing pool time. C. Swymer made a motion that the same fee be <br />charged as the YMCA. C. Kaminer seconded. 1-5 opposed. <br />J. Connelly moved to accept $10.00 per 45 minutes session per <br />student. J. Pacino seconded. Passed 5-1 <br />1 <br />
