Recreation Minutes <br />November 7,1990 <br />A meeting of the Recreation Committee was called to order by <br />Chairman J. Fallon at 7:34p.m. In attendance were Committee Mem- <br />bers, C. Kaminer, C. Swymer, R Fotino, F. Conover, T McGrath, <br />also associate members J. Mullen, S. Sullivan & L Salter. M. <br />Williams arrived at 8:20. R. Cogan, Director of Human Services <br />and L Wexler, Recreation Supervisor were also in attendance. <br />Ms. Wexler discussed the Supervisor's Report stating the November <br />Sunday Concert featuring the Woburn City Band was a great suc- <br />cess. Also the sign up for Sunday Basketball was very success- <br />ful. <br />R. Cogan passed out a new budget she had prepared after talking <br />with Peter H. She explained this budget showed the General Fund <br />with only the Supervisor's salary, office supplies and mileage. <br />The Revolving Fund had all the programs. Surplus from the <br />Revolving Fund would be transferred a couple of times a year, <br />leaving a few thousand dollars always in the Revolving Fund for <br />start up programs. Many questions were asked regarding the <br />legality. Ms. Cogan stated she would ask for a ruling from Town <br />Counsel before next meeting. Questions were also asked about how <br />the Supervisor's position could be increased to 3/4 time. Ms. <br />Cogan stated it would not be increased . Mr. Fallon commented <br />the wrestling clinic was losing money due to the custodial fees. <br />He would talk with Tom Darrin about running it in morning or as a <br />15% clinic. Also discussed were the Light Department bills for <br />the fields. A meeting with DPW, Ms Wexler, P Hechenbleikner was <br />scheduled for November 19 concerning the fees. <br />Mr. Fallon stated there would be $310. coming back from the <br />cherry sheets . Also discussed was Spinning Wheels and whether <br />to continue funding $4200.. It was decided to ask Mr. Billilies <br />to make a presentation at the December meeting. <br />Ms Kaminer made a motion to increase the Supervisor's Position <br />from .6 to .75 time position. D. Fotino seconded - unanimous <br />Ms. Cogan stated she would attach a memo to the budget with the <br />Recreation Committee's recommendation. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Ms Williams suggested a Before School Sports program but had just <br />found out most of the schools already had one except Eaton. <br />Ms Williams moved to adjourn at 10:00 - Unanimous. <br />
