Recreation Minutes <br />July 8, 1992 <br />A meeting of the Recreation Committee was held on July 8, 1992 in <br />the Arnold Berger Room at Reading Town Hall, 16 Lowell St., Read- <br />ing, MA. Committee members present included Vice Chairman Kate <br />Kaminer, Steve Sullivan, John Pacino, Susan Cavichi, Gordon <br />Richards, Lorraine Salter, Fred Conover and Gary Roberts. Ed <br />Hanley and Tom Zaya arrived late. <br />At 7:40pm the meeting was called to order. New members were in- <br />troduced, Gordon Richards and Susan Cavvichi (voting members) and <br />Karl McFadden (associate member). It was also announced that Mr. <br />Ed Hanley was promoted to voting member of the Recreation Com- <br />mittee. <br />Next on the agenda was the approval of the minutes from the June <br />10 meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was made by John <br />Pacino and seconded by Steve Sullivan- Before the minutes were <br />voted on,. Fred Conover asked who on the committee was interested <br />in being chairperson. Lorraine Salter stated that she would like <br />to see Mr. Giordano as chairman for the upcoming year, especially <br />as the Supervisor is leaving. The discussion was closed as the <br />Committee was not sure how Chairman Giordano would feel about <br />staying on for another term. A vote to approve the minutes of <br />June 10th was then taken, the minutes were approved 7-0-0. <br />Under the third order of business, the Supervisor's report was <br />reviewed. The Committee felt that, a memo to Peter regarding a <br />potential avenue to fund major repairs at the pool. <br />A motion to approve the Supervisor's report was made by John <br />Pacino, which was seconded by Steve Sullivan. The Committee <br />voted to approve the report . 7-0-0. <br />Sub Committee reports were reviewed next. The first Sub- <br />Committee to review their progress was the Teen Center Sub- <br />Committee. Kate Kaminer, a member of the Committee stated that a <br />"Battle of the Bands" concert is scheduled for August 26th. The <br />Tennis Tournament Sub-Committee stated that the tournament was a <br />success, netting $1,200. It was added that the courts at Birch <br />Meadow are in poor shape and that new nets were very necessary. <br />Fred made a motion to pursue the tennis court concerns and report <br />back to the committee. The motion was seconded by Lorraine Sal- <br />ter. The motion passed with a vote of 8-0-0. <br />1 <br />
