Board of Library Trustees <br />Minutes of the Meeting - December 15, 1986 <br />Conference Room - Reading Public Library - 8:00 p.m. <br />OF SELECTMEN <br />Present: Mr. William Diamond, Chairman; Mrs. Carol Beckwith, Ms9.A?ia Dangelmaier; <br />Ms. Cherrie Dubois; Mr. Robert Fields; Dr. Christine Redford. pECEtVED <br />JAN 15 187 <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:20 p.m. <br /> <br />Minutes: TIME <br />Mrs. Dangelmaier moved to accept the minutes of the previous' meeting as written; <br />Ms. Dubois seconded . Motion passed. <br />Financial Report: <br />Mrs. Aberman noted that the telephone account will be overdrawn due to under- <br />funding, but the deficet will be taken from another account. <br />Statistical Report: <br />November statistics were presented. Average daily circulation was down 114 over <br />the previous November, primarily in adult circulation. Various ideas were discussed <br />for increasing circulation. <br />Director's Report: <br />Personnel: David Mitchell has resigned as custodian to accept another position. <br />His last day of work will be December 19. The Department of Public Works has <br />advertised and will be interviewing for this position. They will keep the Library <br />Director informed of the possible candidates. <br />Services/Pro grams: Holiday library hours for Christmas Eve will be 9 a.m. - 12 noon <br />and for New Year's Eve from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. <br />Building Maintenance: Mr. Fletcher, Superintendent of DPW, would like to address <br />the Trustees at their next meeting to discuss the long range capital outlay for <br />maintenance. He has informed the Trustees that FY88 Capital Outlay includes both <br />a new roof and a restructuring/resurfacing of the parking lot. <br />Communi cati ons : <br />Notice has been received from the office of Nigro, Pettepit and Lucas that the <br />Reading Library is the recipient of a $1,000 bequest from the estate of Helen <br />Symonds. Mrs. Aberman will forward a letter of appreciation from the Trustees to <br />the Executrix of the estate. <br />A request for use of the piano for a Sunday afternoon recital was presented. <br />After discussion, it was agreed that the request was not in accordance with the <br />Piano Policy. Mrs. Aberman will notify the requestor. <br />
