i <br />Council on Aging Board Meeting <br />Room 16 - Town Hall <br />May 8, 1989 <br />Present: Lois Bond, Frank Day, Barbara Doucette, Dorothy Foxon, <br />Ginny Lane, Loretta Spaulding, Irving Stackpole, <br />Barbara Ritchie, Enid Schmuch <br />Absent: Gladys Cail, Linda Nordberg, Ruth Vitkovich <br />Meeting was called to order at 5:35 P.M. by Acting Chairperson <br />Loretta Spaulding in Room 16 of the Town Hall. <br />The Shopping Assistance Coordinator, Enid Schmuch, gave a presen- <br />tation on what her job entails. <br />Minutes of the April meeting were accepted on a motion by Irving <br />Stackpole and seconded by Ginny Lane. <br />The Treasurerls Report was accepted on a motion by Irving Stack- <br />pole and seconded by Ginny Lane. Sixty-eight percent of a <br />projected eighty-three percent of the budget to date has been <br />spent. <br />old Business <br />The Senior Center Location Study Committee reported that the <br />central fire station be considered for the Senior Center. The <br />Committee forwarded a request to the Board of Selectmen that the <br />structural integrity of the central fire station be determined <br />before the final site recommendation is given to the Board of <br />Selectmen by the end of May, as requested. <br />Director's Report <br />Lois handed out the April financial report. <br />New Business <br />Upcoming Events: <br />Annual Picnic May 17 Pearl Street School <br />Ice Cream Social June 14 Tannerville <br />Block Dance July 12 Cedar Glen <br />Cookout August 16 Peter Sanborn <br />At their Board of Directors meeting, on May 2, the United Church <br />Homes of Reading, Inc. voted to extend the agreement between <br />Peter Sanborn Place and the Reading Council on Aging for a period <br />of one year beginning May 2, 1989. This agreement enables the <br />Meals on Wheels program to continue meal distribution from Peter <br />Sanborn. <br />Surplus Food - Division of Elder Services received a copy of a <br />letter to Joanne Morrissey, Department of Education, Bureau of <br />1 <br />
