i Council on Aging Board Meeting Room 16 - Town Hall May 8, 1989 Present: Lois Bond, Frank Day, Barbara Doucette, Dorothy Foxon, Ginny Lane, Loretta Spaulding, Irving Stackpole, Barbara Ritchie, Enid Schmuch Absent: Gladys Cail, Linda Nordberg, Ruth Vitkovich Meeting was called to order at 5:35 P.M. by Acting Chairperson Loretta Spaulding in Room 16 of the Town Hall. The Shopping Assistance Coordinator, Enid Schmuch, gave a presen- tation on what her job entails. Minutes of the April meeting were accepted on a motion by Irving Stackpole and seconded by Ginny Lane. The Treasurerls Report was accepted on a motion by Irving Stack- pole and seconded by Ginny Lane. Sixty-eight percent of a projected eighty-three percent of the budget to date has been spent. old Business The Senior Center Location Study Committee reported that the central fire station be considered for the Senior Center. The Committee forwarded a request to the Board of Selectmen that the structural integrity of the central fire station be determined before the final site recommendation is given to the Board of Selectmen by the end of May, as requested. Director's Report Lois handed out the April financial report. New Business Upcoming Events: Annual Picnic May 17 Pearl Street School Ice Cream Social June 14 Tannerville Block Dance July 12 Cedar Glen Cookout August 16 Peter Sanborn At their Board of Directors meeting, on May 2, the United Church Homes of Reading, Inc. voted to extend the agreement between Peter Sanborn Place and the Reading Council on Aging for a period of one year beginning May 2, 1989. This agreement enables the Meals on Wheels program to continue meal distribution from Peter Sanborn.
