OhAt 1 <br />Council on Aging Board Meeting <br />Room 16 - Town Hall <br />April 14, 1989 <br />Present: Gladys Cail, Frank Day, Barbara Doucette, Dorothy <br />Foxon, Linda Nordberg, Loretta Spaulding, Barbara <br />Ritchie, Lois Bond <br />Absent: Ginny Lane, Irving Stackpole, Ruth Vitkovich <br />Meeting was called to order at 5:35 P.M. by Chairperson Gladys <br />Cail in Room 16 of the Town Hall. <br />The Shopping Assistance Co-ordinator was unable to attend this <br />meeting therefore will give her presentation at the May meeting. <br />Minutes of the March meeting were accepted on a motion by Loretta <br />Spaulding and seconded by Linda Nordberg. <br />The Treasurer's Report was accepted. Sixty-two percent of a <br />projected seventy-five percent of the budget to date has been <br />spent. <br />Old Business <br />Barrow school students doing well with Vial of Life - 1250 kits <br />have been put together. <br />of the $7.00 per person for cholesterol screening VNA took $6.00 <br />and $1.00 went to us to be put in the general fund. <br />Senior Ball at the high school is April 27 in the afternoon. <br />Visits with managers at Tannerville, Peter Sanborn and Cedar Glen <br />went very well; plan to meet with them once a month and bring in <br />other service people who work with Reading elders. <br />Fix-It will try to get appropriate people to work on Handy Folk <br />projects. Liability needs to be clarified. Possibly it could be <br />arranged for van driver to pick up items to be fixed if it <br />doesn't become too burdensome. <br />Knitting Club must be made to realize that there isn't a leader - <br />it is not a class. <br />Peggy White is very grateful to learn-that van will be available <br />for the quilting class. <br />Director's Report <br />- Donation of wheelchair and flowers were much appreciated; <br />- Elder Services had to trim $400 from budget so Contractual Ser- <br />vices is now $5600 for FY 190; <br />1 <br />
