/z1t~ OF F q0 Town of Reading Reading, Massachusetts 01867-2693 INCOkQ°4P,, (617) 942-0500 ELDER SERVICES 6 LOWELL STREET COUNCIL ON AGING BOARD MEETING Room 16 - Town Hall December 12, 1988 Present: Gladys Cail, Barbara Doucette, Dorothy Foxon,Ginny Lane, Linda Nordberg, Gail Rourke, Loretta Spaulding, Irving Stackpole, Ruth Vitkovich, Barbara Ritchie (Patrons for Older Adults), Lois Bond, Florence Farelli. Absent: Arleen Bazarian. Meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. by Chairperson Gladys Call. Minutes of the October meeting were accepted with no changes by unanimous vote. The minutes of the November meeting were accepted with the following corrections: the date of the meeting to be changed from November 10 to November 7; Dorothy Foxon's name be included in the "present" list. Ginny Lane was welcomed as the newest Board member. The Treasurer's Report was accepted with a projected 41.60 of the appropriations, 28.6% has been spent to date. An ensuing discussion raised the following points: fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30; establishing monthly budget project figures to run concurrently with programs; copies of appropria- tion sheets made available to all Board members; what is the Board's role in budget preparation and dispensing of funds; what is it's advisory function. Florence Farelli will present a leave of absence request rather than resign as van driver. Applications are being received for the temporary position. Shopping Assistance salary dependent upon grant monies was lifted up as an example of the need for creative cooperation to resolve homemaker shortage situation in Reading. Tea Dance Committee was voted $600 from the recreation budget to cover expenses. This action supplants the Board vote of July 18 to give $100 to the Committee.
