Council on Aging - Secretary's Report - May 13, 1985 <br />Present: Betty Knox, Dick Felone, Corinne Pencoraro, Sebastian Tine <br />r Absent: Lorna C. Knapp, Jane Soule, Ann Marie McCarron <br />In the absence of Lorna C. Knapp, Chairperson, the meeting was called to order <br />by Betty Knox at 7:40 P.M. <br />The motion was duly made seconded and VOTED to accept the minutes of the previous <br />meeting as written. <br />In the absence of the Treasurer, Rheta reported a balance of $30,363.00 in the <br />budget which is right on target. <br />Betty then introduced Lee Roberts who assumed the duties of Friendly Visitor <br />Coordinator two months ago. During this time she has been busy meeting the <br />clients and visitors. Lee feels it is an excellent program for Reading's older <br />residents and will be working toward expanding the program in the Fall. <br />Administrative Secretary's report was reviewed (copy attached). <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Nothing further has been done regarding workload of COA office and upgrading <br />staff because Corinne has resigned effective July 1, 1985 and Ann Marie was " <br />absent. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />The following dates were selected for summer evening programs: <br />July 10 Cookout - Frank Tanner Drive - Dick Felone in charge <br />July 24 (to be announced) Peter Sanborn Place <br />August 7 Slide Show (location to be announced)- fresh fruit compote <br />August 21 Bingo - Frank Tanner Drive - Apple juice and donut holes <br />Programs, locations, etc. will be finalized at next board meeting,: It was <br />suggested Patrons of Older Adults be asked to fund cookout, also have a Boy <br />Scout Troop assist with the shopping, setting up and cleaning up. <br />The motion was duly made seconded and VOTED to ask the Patrons of Older Adults <br />to 'fund the cookout and cost of printing and postage for Elderberries. <br />The exhibition held at the Library generated a great deal of interest among new <br />people for COA sponsored classes. Following a brief discussion it was voted <br />to continue all classes for the coming year with paid instructors. <br />Dick Felone suggested the new owners of the Community Center be invited to meet <br />with COA board to make it very clear that we are interested in knowing how much <br />space they plan to provide for the Senior Center. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 P.M. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />r 7 )f <br />Rheta C.
