COUNCIL GPI HIND <br />SecretaryY's Report <br />June 13, 1983 <br />The regular monthly meeting of the Council on Aging was held on Monday, <br />June 13, 1983, <br />Attendees Rheta McKinley, Administrative Secretary; Chairperson Lorna, Knapp; <br />members Dick Felone, Betty Knox, Mary Ctti.no, Sbbastian Tine, and Associate <br />Member Frank Lema.ire. Guests William Hughes, Finance Committees and John <br />MacBonnell, Marcia McFarland, Corrine Pecoraro, and S. Lester Ralph. <br />Absents Donna, Ruth <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairperson :snap at 7835e She welcomed <br />four new members--to-bee John MacBonnell, Marcia McFarland, Corrine Pecoraro <br />and S. Tester Ralph. She explained that they would receive a letter from <br />the Selectmen's Office asking them to appear at the Town Clerk's office to <br />be sworn in, thus making them official members of the Council on Aging Board <br />with voting privileges. It was suggested that they apply for papers even if <br />the letter was not forwarded, as this is an extremely busy time due to the <br />upcoming election. <br />The Secretary's Report as of May 9, 1983 was reviewed and it was duly moved, <br />seconded and VOTED to be accepted as submitted. <br />Treasurer Tine gave the Finamell Report as of N y 27 showing expenditures <br />of $42,205873 leaving a balance of 94,777.85, (this includes the salary <br />transfer.) It was duly .roved, seconded and VOTED that the Treasurer's <br />Re-port he accepted. <br />ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY'S REPORT <br />Mr°s. McKinley's report was w vie,°ed by the Board. It included detailed statistics <br />from January is to June 30, 1983 of the money returnod to" thi Town treasury from <br />the receipts of class fees and van transportation. <br />There was a general discussion regarding the success of the picnic held, on <br />May 26. It was well attended by the seniors and the Participation Of 50 <br />sixth graders greatly contributed to the festivities. It was the opinion of <br />the Board members that the intergenerationa.l feature should be repeated in <br />other lr ograms <br />Chaairpe-rson. Knapp introduced Eileen Lloyd, System Manager of Continental <br />Cablevision. Ms. Lloyd gave a, brief rundown of the activities of the cable- <br />vision company. She stated that all the equipment used by them ;is owned by <br />the Town of Reading. 569 of Reading residents are users. Ms. Lloyd answered <br />questions by the Board and it was generally agreed that the system is under- <br />utilized. Senior citizen participation is welcome and the Board was invited <br />to tour the studio. A definite date will be set in the near future <br />
