COUNCIL ON AGING <br />Secretary's Report <br />April 11, 1983 <br />The regular monthly meeting of the Council on Aging was held on <br />Monday, April 11, 1983 <br />Attendees: Rheta McKinley, Administrative Secretary, Lorna Knapp, <br />Chairperson; and members, Tony Barrasso, Dick Felone, Betty Knox, <br />Mary Ottino, Sebastian "ire, Donna Ruth and Lee Winslow; and Asso- <br />ciate member Frank Le:i '.re <br />Absent: Andy YlulhiAch <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Knapp at 7:40 PP% <br />The Secretary*s Report for March 14 was reviewed by the Board and <br />the following errors .noted: expenditures were erroneously quoted <br />as $20#764.62; correct figure is $28,764.62. Can page 3 motion <br />by Far. Barrasso should read in view of the fact that we have <br />already -requested funding for fiscal '85...t° There was also the <br />o:miL--z .on of Frank Lemaire's name as an attendee. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded it was VOTED to accept the minutes <br />as corrected, <br />FINANCIAL REPORT <br />Sebastian Tine, Treasurer reported expenditures of 32,960.04, leaving <br />a balance of $11,287.96, which represents 74.4 of the budget at the <br />75% point of the fiscal year. A request has been made for $1,000 to <br />fund the 53rd week of the year. Mr. Tine stated that clarification is <br />needed on the printout regarding the grant, <br />Chairperson Knapp called on Frank Lemaire for a brief update of the <br />Mystic Valley Elder Home Services. Mr. Lemaire stated that the Dome <br />Care Board meets regularly and keeps informed as to legislative matters <br />concerning the elderly. He mentioned the Patrons for Older Adults,, <br />an organization started in 1978, and read their By laws. He called at- <br />tention to the fact that the By-laws state that the Patrons were to work <br />in cooperation with the Reading Council on Aging. He suggested that the <br />two organizations should combine their efforts, as they had in the past, <br />for the benefit of the Reading elderly. <br />Mr. Barrasso asked if a letter had been written to the Selectmen requesting <br />funds for the van purchase. Mrs. McKinley informed the Board that the <br />letter had been written and hand-carried, due to the tight time require- <br />ment, to the Selectmen, <br />
