COUNCIL ON AGING <br />Secretary's Report <br />March 14, 1983 <br />The regular monthly meeting of the Council on Aging was held on Monday, <br />March 14, 1983. <br />Attendees: Rheta McKinley, Administrative Secretary; Lorna Knapp, Chair- <br />person, and members, Tony Barrasso, Elizabeth Knox, Andy Mulhinch, <br />Mary Ottino, Sebastian Tine and Lee Winslow. <br />Absent: Donna Ruth <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Knapp at 7:38 P.M. <br />The Secretary's Report for February 8, 1983 was reviewed by the Board <br />members and it was voted to accept it. <br />Chairperson Knapp asked for the Financial Report. Sebastian Tine, Treasurer, <br />reported that as of February, 1983 $20,764.62 had been expended leaving a <br />balance of $15,483.38. These figures represent a 65% expenditure rate <br />for 2/3 of the fiscal year. Mr. Tine pointed out that although some categories <br />of- thef,hudget had reached 100% of a,l,loti-,ient, other categories were below 30%, <br />thus the total expenditures were witiin range. There was a brief dis- <br />cussion regarding the fact that allowances must be made for a 53 week payroll. <br />Sebastian Tine will confer with Mrs. McKjf,!ey to determine the amount needed <br />and request a transfer of funds. <br />Chairperson Knapp called for the Administrative Secretary's Report. This <br />was furnished to each member and time was taken to review it. There was a <br />a brief discussion and several questions were answered. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />A Program Planning Session was scheduled for March 28 at Tannerville. <br />The April meeting will be held at Cedar Glen, a-.-<d efforts will be made to <br />hold the May meeting at Peter Sanborn Place. Reading residents will be <br />invited to come and express their ideas. The members of the Board are asked <br />to attend if possible. <br />The Elderly Forum date has been changed to May 13. It will be held in <br />the Community Center Auditorium on Fridav morning 10:30 to 12:00. <br />Dr. Richard 11. Rowland, Secretary of Elder Affairs, Hon. Michael Barrett, <br />Representative of our District, and'Ms. Molly Burns, Executive Director of <br />Mystic Valley Elder Services, Inc. will be the speakers. It will be open <br />to people in surrounding communities and will be announced in the local <br />newspapers. <br />
