COUNCIL ON AGING <br />BOARD MEETING, JANUARY 13, 1987 BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br />rr• F i° <br />PRESENT: Gladys Cail, Barbara Doucette, Rosemary Gibbons, AJ o); son, <br />Ruth Montague, Sebastian Tine; Associate Member., Le t'aL <br />Spaulding, Rheta McKinley, Administrative Secretary <br />ABSENT: Woodrow Baldwin, Dick Felone, John Mont gomer <br />The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairperson, Aloyse Jellison, at <br />7:30 p.m. <br />The Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and the motion made, <br />seconded and voted for acceptance. <br />FINANCIAL REPORT. Treasurer Barbara Doucette reported finances were on target <br />with 34.97% expended. Motion was made, seconded and voted to accept the <br />Financial Report. <br />REPORT OF ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY. The report of the Administrative <br />Secretary was reviewed and commented on. It was agreed that the Holiday <br />Festival was a huge success. <br />It was noted that there has been a 10% increase in volunteers since the <br />position of Volunteer Coordinator was cre ated on July 1, 1986. A $4400 <br />grant has been submitted requesting funds to continue this program. <br />There was a brief discussion regardingthe termination of Edna Gelman, Clerk. <br />It'is not known if this job opening has been posted. <br />Rheta reported that the substitute van driver has requested -a pay raise from' <br />$4.00 to $5.00 per hour. Town Manager Heckenbleikner suggested $4.47 an <br />hour- Consideration might be given to the additional money upon submissihon <br />of documentation as to the duties performed and the level of responsibility <br />required. The motion was made, seconded and voted to write a letter to the <br />Town Manager outlining the duties and responsibilities of the substitute <br />van driver as recorded.in the job description. <br />BUDGET. The Board discussed the necessity for the regular van driver to <br />work overtime. The workload has increased and it is impossible for her to <br />- serve the additional load in 35 hours weekly. Following a lengthy discussion, <br />the motion was made, seconded and voted to increase the hours of the van <br />driver 22 additional hours per week, making a total of 372 hrs. weekly. <br />Noting that there has been no permanent clerk in the COA office for several <br />- months, the motion was made, seconded and voted to hire one full-time clerk, <br />or possibly two part-time clerks, to assist in conducting the duties of <br />the office. <br />
