READING COUNCIL ON AGING <br />Board Meeting, April i3, 1987 <br />The meeting convened at 5:30 p.m. 'in the dining room at-52 Sanborn Street, <br />Reading. . <br />PRESENT: R. Felone, Vice Chairperson; J. Soule; G. Cail; B. Doucette; <br />S. Tine; W. Baldwin; R. Montague; L. Spaulding; G. Rourke <br />and Rheta McKinley, Administrative Secretary <br />ABSENT: R. Gibbons; Doris Fantasia and Aloyse Jellison <br />Richard Dempster, Chairman of Reading Housing Authority and Peg Plansky, <br />Executive Director, appeared before the Board to request <br />support to convert a building owned by St. Agnes' Church, <br />for congregate and elderly housing. Following the pres- <br />entation, they answered questions from the Board. The <br />Board voted approval of the concept to use the building <br />for housing. <br />MINUTES <br />The minutes were read and accepted. <br />REPORT OF ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY <br />Report was read and accepted. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />VOLUNTEER DINNER: After discussion it was decided to drop the idea of <br />honoring selected guests because there are many who do <br />provide extra support for the Council on Aging. The menu <br />was discussed and agreed upon. The cost of the meal will <br />be $8.00 per person and Rheta reported that $300 had been <br />received from Court Resources Program and $350 from Patrons <br />of Older Adults to help defray the cost. Entertainment by <br />the Reading High School "Singers" will be given. The cost <br />will be about $50. There will be no charge for use of the <br />Masonic Temple, but the caterer must pay $25 to use the <br />kitchen. Rheta reported any charges above above the $650 <br />donation be taken from the Council on Aging budget. <br />BUDGET: <br />Rheta reported that the Town Manager presented our budget <br />to the Finance Commitee and it was approved. However, he did <br />not present the budget portion for"new programs: (Additional <br />part time clerk or full time clerk and upgrade.Admini.strative <br />Secretary, presently classified as clerk.) Following the <br />presentation of budget for Health-Department, the Town Manager <br />requested funding for part time clerk to be used as a <br />"Floater" for Council on Aging, Board of Health, Veteran's <br />
