COUNCIL ON AGING <br />Board Meeting--July 18, 1988. <br />f ;MEMBERS PRESENT: Woody Baldwin, Barbara Doucette, Gladys Cail, <br />Rosemary Gibbons, Gail Rourke, Loretta Spaulding, <br />Barbara Ritchie, Gertrude Poole <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Aloyse Jellison, Ruth Vitkovich. <br />STAFF PRESENT: Lois K. Bond <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Millie Dulong <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:40 by Chairperson, Woody Baldwin. <br />Motion was made and voted to accept the minutes of the May and June <br />meetings. <br />Financial Report: Closing budget figures will be presented at the <br />August meeting. The Fiscal Year 1989 line items were discussed. <br />Line item, office supplies, covers those supplies unique to Elder <br />Services. <br />Director's Report: Written report was reviewed. Updated information <br />covered receipt of applications for the Outreach Worker position; <br />need for appointment of new Council on Aging Board members. <br />Election of Officers: Rosemary Gibbons, seconded by Gladys Cail and <br />voted that the current officers continue until September 1, 1988 and <br />a new slate of officers be elected in August. <br />Pearl Street Senior Center: Mcve will be made on Saturday, July 23rd. <br />An elevator is on order. Greater Lynn Mental Health program will <br />explore using a temporary site until the elevator is operable. Open <br />House will be planned for Autumn. <br />Revolving Funds: Discussion about the three revolving funds being <br />proposed to the Board of Selectmen's meeting on August 2, 1988. <br />There was expressed a need to track the level of donations and the <br />equity of fund distribution. <br />Summer Program: Board members will be present for setup, serving <br />and clean-up for the August programs at Peter Sanborn Place and at <br />Tannerville. Henry Murphy will organize the Ice Cream Social. <br />Retirement Seminar: Rosemary Gibbons is searching for coordinators <br />of seminar to be held October 6, 13, 20, 27 and Nov. 3rd. The library <br />fee policy states that programs may be conducted at the library and <br />charge a fee that will recover costs. <br />Tea Dance: Loretta Spaulding moved and Gladys Cail seconded a motion <br />that $100 from the Council on Aging Recreation line in budget be <br />given to the Tea Dance Committee to help defray costs. Motion carried. <br />Trips: Rosemary Gibbons moved and Loretta Spaulding seconded a motion <br />that the Council on Aging news column in the Daily Times Chronicle <br />and Suburban News list all trips organized for Reading senior citizens, <br />giving destination, date, cost, sponsor of trip. Motion carried. <br />Motion to be mailed to Golden Agers, Patrons for Older Adults, Eloise <br />Shannon and Millie Dulong. It will be the responsibility of the <br />organizer to submit information to the Council on Aging office. <br />
