Council on Aging Board Meeting <br />m& Room 16 Town Hall <br />rs'w <br />z September 12, 1988 <br />Present: Gladys Cail, Ruth Vitkovich, Barbara Doucette, Gail <br />Rourke, Arleen Bazarian, Linda Nordberg, Loretta Spaulding, Bar- <br />bara Ritchie, Lois Bond <br />Meeting called to order at 5:35 PM by Chairperson, Gladys Call. <br />Linda Nordberg and Arleen Bazarian were welcomed as new Board <br />members. <br />The Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted with no changes <br />by unanimous vote. <br />The Treasurer's Report was voted and accepted. 7.7% of the ap- <br />propriations have been spent to date. <br />Rosemary Gibbons resignation from the Board was accepted with <br />regret. Ruth Vitkovich will write a letter of appreciation to <br />Rosemary. <br />- Dorothy FoxonIs name will be recommended to the Board of <br />°c Selectmen to fill Rosemary Gibbon's unexpired term. Gladys Cail <br />will make the presentation at the Selectmen's meeting. <br />The Director's Report wad `re"viewed. Additional information was <br />shared regarding the surplus food distribution and senior center <br />concerns. <br />Surplus Food Distribution will. be Oct. 19 at the various housing <br />units and the Senior Center. Rotary club delivers to distribu- <br />tion sites. <br />Senior Center Concerns centered on the hot water heater, screens, <br />kitchen counter top, bulletin board, double deep sink ceiling fan <br />in kitchen, elevator, ground level emergency exit, traffic and <br />parking signs, student safety in parking lot. Concerns also were <br />expressed about coverage by a responsible staff person or in- <br />structor while the center is being used; posting emergency phone <br />numbers and liability if someone falls. <br />Board Members requested staff be present to discuss their job <br />descriptions and trends for Elder Services. <br />`-"''Open House-will be Oct. 16. Town Manager has agreed food will be <br />purchased by town budget. Food will be suitable for diabetics. <br />Invitations will be mailed to service organizations and <br />~ businesses supporting Elder Services. Fafard will have final <br />touches completed at Senior Center. <br />1 <br />
