Reading School Committee <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />Pre-Town Meeting May-L 2004 <br />Call to Order <br />Chair Elaine Webb called the Pre-Town Meeting regular session to order at 6:02 p.m. in Room <br />A214 at Reading Memorial High School. Present were Ms. Webb, Mr. McFadden, Mrs. Gibbs <br />and Mr. Michaud. Also present were Superintendent Schettini, Assistant, Director of Human <br />Resources and Finance, Mary DeLai and Student Representative Lori Pelosi. <br />School Committee Calendar <br />Superintendent Schettini stated that there would be a School Committee Meeting on Monday, <br />May 8r'' and May 22, 2006 in the Selectmen's Conference Room. He stated June 4t'' would be <br />graduation and at the June 5, 2006 meeting they could make final decisions on committee <br />liaisons. <br />New Business <br />There was discussion concerning the procurement of Fitness Equipment for the newly constructed <br />fitness facility in the Field House at Reading Memorial High School. <br />Ms. DeLai stated they received three bids for cardiovascular equipment, selectorized weight <br />equipment, and Olympic free weight equipment. Two of the three bids received were deemed <br />non-responsive due to their failure to conform to bid specifications. <br />Mrs. Gibbs moved to authorize the Superintendent to enter into an agreement with Life <br />Fitness in the amount of $101,446.38 to provide fitness equipment for the newly constructed <br />fitness facility in the Field House of Reading Memorial High School as outlined in the <br />Superintendent's memorandum dated April 272006. Mr. McFadden seconded the motion. <br />The vote was 4-0. Ms. Webb, Mrs. Gibbs, Mr. Michaud, and Mr. McFadden. <br />Superintendent Schettini was proud to state that Parker Middle School received a Spotlight <br />Award and that Ms. Webb spoke at the presentation at Parker that afternoon. Superintendent <br />Schettini stated that it was not only a great day for Parker but also a great day for Reading. He <br />stated there are thirty-eight Spotlight Schools in New England with ten of them in Massachusetts. <br />Reading has two of these schools. <br />Adjourn <br />Mrs. Gibbs moved to adiourn.
