Reading Public Schools <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />RECEIVED <br />TOWN CLERK <br />all to Order v v <br />qq <br />081 ~8 <br />Chair Webb called the regular session to order at 7:31 p.m. at the Coolidge id le School Multipurpose Room <br />at Reading Town Hall. Present were Ms. Webb, Ms. Gibbs, Mr. Caruso, Mr. Dahl, Mr. McFadden, Mr. <br />Michaud, Superintendent Patrick Schettini, Jr., Director of Human Resource and Finances Mary DeLai, <br />Assistant Superintendent John Doherty, Fin Com Representative Chuck Robinson, Fin Com Representative Hal <br />Torman, RTA President Stan Quinlan, Several budget parents were also present. <br />Chair Webb read the mission of the Reading Public Schools. <br />Bills and Payrolls <br />Bills and payrolls were circulated to all members of the committee. <br />Citizens' Input <br />There was no citizens' input. <br />Gifts <br />There were no gifts presented this evening. <br />Reports of Chairman, Liaisons, and Superintendent <br />There were no reports given. <br />~.hool Committee Calendar <br />sere will not be a school committee meeting on January 18, 2007. There is a financial forum on January 10, <br />2007. <br />Personnel <br />No personnel issues were discussed. <br />Old Business <br />There was no old business this evening. <br />New Business <br />Superintendent Schettim and Director of Human Resource and Finances DeLai presented the Superintendent's <br />Recommended FY08 Budget for the areas of Special Education and Maintenance Budget to the Reading School <br />Committee and the community. Their presentation included the following: <br />o Budget Building Procedure <br />o Three types of budgets (Baseline, Level Service, Recommended) <br />o Budget Drivers for Special Education <br />o Number of students in Special Education Programs both in-district and out of district <br />o School Building Maintenance Natural Gas Cost Projection <br />o School Building Maintenance FY08 Electricity Cost Projection <br />o School Building Maintenance FY08 Water/Sewer Cost Projection <br />o School Building Maintenance Energy Management Expenses <br />o Town Building Maintenance FY08 Energy and Utilities Cost Projection <br />t <br />o FY08 Capital Plan Funding Priorities <br />
