Regular Session 2 April 23, 2007 <br />Old Business <br />Town Meeting Preparation <br />Superintendent Schettini gave the committee a brief overview of the FY08 budget <br />presentation for Town Meeting. There was discussion about the projected state revenue, <br />social security benefits for employees, unaddressed needs of the district and likely <br />committee action should additional money be added via Town Meeting. <br />Mr. Michaud left the meeting at 6:45 p.m. <br />School Department Budget <br />Superintendent Schettini and Mary DeLai discussed some information that they have <br />received from the State Department of Revenue: <br />Mrs. Gibbs moved the following: <br />• The School Committee shall define its annual operating budget by specifying <br />that the budget accounts be comprised of Administration, Regular Day, <br />Special Education, Other School Services, School Building Maintenance, and <br />Town Building Maintenance. <br />• The School Committee each year shall vote a budget page consisting of <br />budget account totals for the above accounts and a grand total amount for all <br />school department categories. All other information presented within the <br />annual operating budget is strictly for information purposes and shall not be <br />construed as constituting any other budget accounts. <br />• Consistent with MGL Chapter 71, Sections 34 and 37, the School Committee <br />shall have sole authority to transfer between these accounts while the <br />Superintendent shall have the authority to transfer between lines within each <br />account. <br />• Finally, the School Committee instructs the Superintendent to amend the <br />necessary School Committee policy(ies) to reflect the substance of this <br />motion. <br />Seconded by Mr. Robinson. Motion carries 5-0. Ms Webb, Mrs Gibbs, Mr. <br />McFadden, Mr. Caruso, and Mr. Robinson. <br />Mrs. Webb read the speech that she will be giving to Town Meeting this evening prior to <br />the FY08 budget presentation. <br />Adjourn <br />Mrs. Gibbs moved to adiourn, seconded by Mr. Caruso Motion passed 5-0 Ms <br />x <br />Webb, Mrs. Gibbs, Mr. McFadden, Mr. Caruso, and Mr. Robinson <br />
