z: I <br />~ ~ ;tk1 <br />Reading School Committee <br />4 s !J <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />Regular Session March 1, 2004 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chair Dahl called the regular meeting to order at 7:20 p.m. Present were School <br />Committee Members Peter Dahl, John Carpenter, Carl McFadden, Robert Spadafora and <br />Elaine Webb. Also present was Superintendent Schettini. <br />BILLS & PAYROLL <br />Bills and payroll were circulated for signature. <br />CITIZENS' INPUT <br />There was no citizen input. <br />SUPERINTENDENT/CHAH2/LIAISON REPORT <br />Ms. Webb stated the naming of the new school Public Hearing would be Thursday, <br />March 11, 2004 at 7:30 in the Superintendent's Conference Room. All ideas, names, <br />faxes and emails are welcome. Ms. Webb and Mr. Spadafora are the School Committee <br />Liaisons. <br />Chair Dahl mentioned that it was the twenty-year anniversary of the Reading Public <br />Library being located in the current location. On Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. <br />starting at Town Hall there will be a book passing event from the Town Hall to the <br />Middlesex Avenue location to commemorate the anniversary. <br />Mr. Carpenter stated that there was a draft contract for RCTV. The Ad Hoc Committee <br />will meet this Thursday to review the draft and recommend changes. <br />Mr. Spadafora stated that he had a Legal Services Survey to pass out to the Committee. <br />The Town Counsel Review Committee is reviewing the current model and provider of <br />legal services. <br />Chair Dahl stated that Joan Langsam has been doing a great job for the Town. <br />Chair Dahl explained that he spent a day at the National History Day Competition. It was <br />fascinating to see the student's creative approach to historical subjects. The students <br />deserve congratulations. Their projects were phenomenal. <br />Mr. Russo arrives at 7:50. <br />
