MASS. <br />Reading School Committee L <br />Reading, Massachusetts 1004 SEP 22 A 11: 31 <br />Regular Session May 3, 2004 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chair Dahl called the regular session to order at 5:40 in the Reading Memorial High <br />School Guidance Conference Room. Present were Mr. McFadden, Mr. Carpenter, Mr. <br />Dahl Ms. Webb, Mrs. Gibbs and Mr. Spadafora. Also present were Superintendent <br />Schettini and the Town Manager, Peter Hechenbleikner. Mr. Richards was not present. <br />Mr. Frances called the FinCom to order at 5:42 p.m. Present were Mr. Francis, Mr. <br />McDonald, Mr. Bolger, Ms. Martin and Mr. Grimes. <br />Chair Dahl stated the purpose of the meeting was to review the Barrows construction <br />bids. <br />Mrs. Martin made a motion to reconsider the subiect matter of Article 4 Mr. <br />Grimes seconded the motion. The vote was 5-0. Mr. Grimes Mrs. Martin Mr. <br />Francis, Mr. Bolger and Mr. McDonald <br />Mr. Bolger made a motion to recommend the subiect matter of Article 4 by adding <br />the public works sewer project at $209,400 with a source of funds being Enterprise <br />Debt (ED) Mrs. Martin seconded the motion The vote was 5-0. Mr. Grimes, Mrs <br />Martin, Mr. Francis, Mr. Bolger and Mr. McDonald <br />Mr. Peirce from Flansburgh Associates gave an overview of Suburban Middlesex <br />Insulation explaining that this was a larger project for them. They have DCAM <br />certification. <br />Mr. Dunlap stated they would be checking their references. Mr. Peirce went to the <br />DCAM to review the file. Mr. Dunlap stated that the Barrows project would be their <br />primary project. He stated that SMI has to be able to provide the performance and <br />payment bond. <br />Ms Webb asked if the spread in the bid prices was a concern. Mr. Dunlap stated that SMI <br />wanted the project. <br />Mr. Grimes asked if the general contractor had any power over the filed sub bids. Mr. <br />Dunlap told him no. <br />Mr. Francis asked how the contractor was appointed. <br />Mr. Dunlap stated that the School Comm: <br />the May 12th School Committee Meeting. <br />
