!!t G, MASS. <br />Reading School Committee <br />Reading, Massachusetts <br />~,dBs tjA ° l I P Q: 3 <br />Regular Session March 14, 2005 <br />Call to Order <br />Chair McFadden called the School Committee to order at 7:40 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose <br />Room at Coolidge Middle School. Present were Mr. Carpenter, Mr. Dahl, Mrs. Gibbs, <br />Mr. McFadden and Ms. Webb. Also present were Superintendent Schettini, Associate <br />Superintendent Richards, Director of Human Resources and Finance Mary DeLai and <br />Student Representative, Michael O'Brien. <br />Mr. Shubert called the Selectmen to order, present were Mrs. Woods, Mrs. Anthony, Mr. <br />Duffy, and Mr. Shubert. <br />The FinCom did not have a quorum. <br />Bills and Payrolls <br />Bills and Payrolls were circulated for signature. <br />Citizen's Input <br />There was no Citizen's Input. <br />Gifts <br />There were no gifts. <br />Town Manger Peter Hechenbleikner stated that last Thursday; Office Charles Lentini <br />passed away. The wake was today and the funeral is tomorrow. The Town would mourn <br />the loss of Officer Lentini. He went on to mention the passing of Lisa O'Brien's <br />husband. <br />Ms. Karen Storti, chairperson of the Substance Abuse Prevention Advisory Council <br />(SAPAC), Mr. William Carrick, Vice Chair and Mark Staniul gave a presentation <br />outlining what and who SAPAC is, their purpose and their goals. <br />There was discussion about how difficult it is to get help for adolescents with drug issues. <br />Superintendent Schettini stated that if we reach one child then the program is a success. <br />He stated that professional development for counselors making a connection with <br />students is very important. <br />
