Gray, ALA, Chairman, Susan Patterson, Vice-Chairman, Kathryn Greenfield, Secretary, Dorothy Casolaro, David Kruh <br />Members present: Members absent: P <br />Michael Gray none <br />Kathryn Greenfield Others present: <br />Dorothy Casolaro Paul Turecamo, Applicant <br />Susan Patterson Nicholas Safma, Architect <br />David Kruh Virginia Adams, Historical Com~issioh <br />Public Hearing re: Ap l~ication or Certificate for 237 West Street - #0601 <br />The Hearing was called to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />➢ MG introduced members of the Commission and noted that Susan Patterson would be <br />recused from the discussion and the vote, as she is a friend of the Applicant. <br />➢ KG read the public notice. <br />MG noted the following dates: <br />o Application received 2/17/06 <br />o Hearing posted for 3/27/06 <br />o Notice published 3/13/06 & 3/20/06 <br />o Hearing decision deadline 4/17/06 <br />➢ MG noted the completeness of the Application, which is for an addition to the <br />existing house at 237 West Street. (a copy of the application is attached hereto) <br />➢ The Applicant further noted that their intention was to make the addition appropriate <br />in style and scale to the existing house. He stated that the existing house has cedar <br />shingles and the siding on the addition will be clapboard. They remain undecided as <br />to whether they will also replace the existing cedar shingles with clapboard or leave <br />the cedar shingles in place. <br />➢ KG asked the Applicant to confirm, if he knew, the year the house was built. He <br />confirmed that, to the best of his knowledge, it was built in 1929. <br />➢ The Applicant was informed of the West Street improvement project, in the event it <br />may have an impact on new steps to the sidewalk. <br />A The Applicant stated that there are no changes planned to the roof, portico, or <br />anything on the front of the house. Their plan is to reuse windows from the upstairs <br />in the new addition. <br />➢ There were no questions or comments from the public. <br />➢ The Commission approved, by a vote of 4-0, the issuance of a Certificate of <br />Appropriateness for the proposed project at 237 West Street as presented. The <br />Certificate is valid for one year. <br />➢ MG will create and sign the Certificate, and submit it to the Building Inspector & <br />Town Clerk, and forward a copy to the Applicant before the deadline of April 17, <br />2006 <br />The hearing was closed at 7:45 p.m. <br />
