Board of Library Trustees
Minutes of Meeting - June 21, 1999
Present: Ms. Maria Silvag(,i, chair; Mr. Stephen Conner; Ms. Cherrie Dubois; Ms. Donna
Indelicato.
Ms. Silvaggi called the meeting to order at 7:20 p.m.
Minutes: The minutes of May 17 were accepted.
Election of officers: Ms. Dubois proposed the following slate: Mrs. Silvaggi, Chair, Mr.
Conner, Vice-Chair, Dr. Redford, Secretary. The slate was voted in unanimously.
Statistical report: Continuing the trend, May's circulation is lower than last year's. Ms.
Dubois would like to see what areas specifically are declining. Perhaps Internet use is
impacting nonfiction circulation.
Report from the Chairman: 1) At last week's Selectmen's meeting, George Hines made a
motion to increase to $20,000 the amount proposed for the Library's materials budget at the
June 30 Town Meeting. The Selectmen voted in favor. Ms. Dubois suggested that the
Foundation include in its bylaws the criterion that no funds will be released in any year that
the municipal budget does not meet the BLC's materials expenditure requirement.
2) Robert Stewart, former president of MassBank, died on April 6. Donations in his memory
have been directed to the Foundation.
There will be no meeting in July; a meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 10, if there is
business.
The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
Diane J. Young
Assistant Director
