r tf~~,, - <br />Minutes of the Board of Library Trustees Meeting <br />Monday, June 21, 2010 <br />Attending: David Hutchinson, Chair; Vicki Yablonsky; Dick Curtis; Cherrie'WVs <br />Jeff Doucette <br />nin J101 15 p 10 0 <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:04pm <br />Minutes <br />The minutes of the May 17th meeting were approved as amended (Dubois/Curtis) <br />Financial Report (D. Hutchinson) <br />• Review of budget line items <br />• Trustees note the financial report still shows an $85,000 transfer in the operating <br />budget <br />• "State grants" and "State Aid" lines have not yet been clarified <br />Statistical Report (D. Hutchinson presented on behalf of D. Socha) <br />• Review of statistics report and comparison of year to year changes <br />• Statistics indicate continued growth in circulation <br />Foundation Report (D. Curtis) <br />• The Board confirmed the endowment principle from a major donor will not be <br />used; only the income generated from the investment will be spent <br />• Interest in refreshing the Foundation Board members <br />Friends Report (C. Dubois) <br />• Annual meeting was held, and included a "Summer Sizzlers" Readers' Advisory <br />program that was presented by library staff members. It was very well attended <br />and enjoyed by all <br />• Meeting with Historical Commission and Antiquarian Society to begin <br />developing ideas for additional programs during the year in conjunction with the <br />2011 House Tour <br />Municipal Building Committee (V. Yablonsky) <br />• Meeting held: presented information on the cemetery garage <br />• Ruth Urell conducted a tour of the library for the committee members <br />• Scheduled: tour of the schools, Senior Center, and Oakland Road property <br />• Meetings scheduled for July and August to continue fact finding <br />Director's Report (D. Hutchinson presented on behalf of R. Urell) <br />• Meeting Room rental fees and consistency of disbursement discussed <br />• Peter Hechenbleikner and Carol Roberts attended an all staff meeting; discussion <br />of union contract salary negotiation and questions from library staff (nonunion) <br />receiving no step or COLA raise this year <br />• Consideration of funding for a part time grant writer; grant opportunities have <br />been missed due to lack of staff time and ability to research and prepare the <br />required proposals; discussion of staff impact of grant implementation; discussion <br />of grant money impact on building project and new space use; Trustees feel it is <br />
