HUMAN RELATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING <br />December 13, 2001 ~r <br />Reading Police Station Community Room <br />7:30 p.m. a ; ASS. <br />Present: Robin D'Antona, Terry Jones, Phil Maher, Emily Maughan, Caroj f y.¢ <br />ob t ,SBgNSOV0, <br />Margaret Soli, and Edward Toland. bu4 Guest: Frank Amoroso, U.S. Dept. of Justice <br />Meeting called to order by Margaret Soli, President. <br />Bob S. distributed letter received in Police Dept. and information on public safety. <br />Minutes of the September meeting amended and approved. November minutes amended and <br />approved. <br />Discussion took place around the following for the renewal of the "Dialogues: <br />a. train new facilitators one evening or Sat. morning in late January or early February. 4 hour <br />trainings for inexperienced, 2 hour trainings for experienced facilitators. Use facilitators as a <br />committee to help with event. <br />b. Hold kick-off meeting on March 6th . Frank can get a speaker. Participants will sign up for <br />dialogue sessions at this meeting. <br />c. Dialogues themselves: 4 consecutive weeks, 2 hours a week. Offer at variety of times for <br />maximum attendance. <br />d. Wrap-up meeting bringing groups together for summary and planning. <br />e. Space: Emily M. will investigate Peter Sanborn Place, Banks, Light Dept., Police Dept., <br />Town Hall, Schools, Senior Center, and Library. <br />f. PR: Ask the Selectmen to issue a proclamation to be read in churches in the community the <br />weekend before the first meeting; article in newspaper; cable. <br />g. Find out who was on the committee with Jean Russo-Parks for the last Dialogues. <br />h. Possible attendees: DASC members, Superintendent of Schools, Police, City employees, <br />local businesses. <br />Theme: The events of Sept. 11 and their impact on our community. <br />Phil Maher will ask about facilitators at St. Agnes. <br />Robin D. will contact Amy Fidele about having the High School group Unity participate. <br />Emily M. will arrange for rooms for meetings. <br />Reading Police officers who have been to New York Ground Zero can be present for the wrap-up <br />session. <br />Terry J. will attend the Dec. 18th meeting of the Selectman to give progress report (8:10 p.m.). <br />Will ask them to issue proclamation for the Dialogues. <br />
