HUMAN RELATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE c°
MINUTES
November 3, 2005 7:30PM at Police Station First Floor Community Room
U
i'
Present: Margaret Soli, Chair, Chief J. Cormier, and P. Kelley members.
The Chair, Margaret Soli, announced that she had arranged for the new METCO
Coordinator, Jenesia Castro, to attend the February meeting and that meeting would be on the
status of METCO; that we would skip a December meeting; and that in lieu of a formal January
meeting, it was suggested that the members make effort to attend the Martin Luther King event at
the Congregational- United Church of Christ church. All present concurred.
There were brief discussions about the Islam and Democracy program which we all felt it
was well done and worthwhile but were disappointed about the lack of attendance; concerning the
appearance of a coyote in the town; and an incident reported in Arlington.
Chief Cormier suggested that the important issue which was coming up in the town was
on the hot topic of youth drug and alcohol use. This has become a serious issue and, while it may
not appear to be strictly within an area of concern of the committee, it is a town wide problem
which will need to involve all interested parties so that the committee might consider if it can be
of assistance.
After general discussion as above, the meeting was adjourned, there not being a quorum.
Respectfully submitted,
Paul A. Kelley, Secretary
