Reading Historical Commission
23 January 2001
Minutes
Attending: Clay Jones
Virginia Adams
Roberta Sullivan
Wilbar Hoxie
Sharlene Santo
+F4D
C'IN CLERK
E-ADINGn MASS.
2001 APR 25 A 9' 39
Louise Sandberg
Kathy Greenfield
Jerry Kaper
Called to order 7:35 PM
1. Minutes approved: Dec. 5, 2000, Dec. 13, 2000, and Dec. 20, 2000.
2. Russ Dean contacted Clay about presenting an article to town meeting
proposing to sell the Old Police Station. Do we want to pay for legal notices should
the Board of Selectmen refuse to do so? Virginia made a motion to pay for the legal
notice to the two local papers of up to $150 if the Board of Selectmen do not agree to
pay for the notices. Voted 4-1-0 Clay said the town says the property is worth
$1,000,000. 8 groups or individuals are now interested in the OPS. Our regularly
scheduled March meeting is March 6th at which time we can go over the bids that will
come in on the 5th of March. Then perhaps we should have an official meeting on the
13th at the Board of Selectmen meeting. The commission read the Request for
Proposals. The commission suggested changes to the document.
3. Treasurer's report: Virginia moved that we authorize Roberta to pay the notices
already placed for the OPS hearing. Report attached.
5. Virginia said that we received some items from the Morton household from
Everett Blodgett. The Reading Chronicle has donated ads for At Wood End since
November.
6. Adjourned 9:25 Approved as amended April 17.
