MASS.
Minutes
Attending: Clay Jones Virginia Adams 2001: MAR. 2b A 61: 08
Roberta Sullivan Wilbar Hoxie
Sharlene Santo Louise Sandberg
Judith Mitchel Jerry Kaper
Kathy Greenfield Mark Cardono
Called to order 7:35
1. Treasurer's report: Bills presented $19.46 for photography; Reading Chronicle
ad $65.10 Approved.
2. Old Police Station: An ad ran in the Reading Chronicle. Reading Housing
Authority contacted Roberta if it would be ok to add duplicate door on the right had
side of the building. Roberta asked them to write up their plans and attempt to use the
building without the second door. The commission had to decide. They also wanted
to use metal windows (12 over 12). Many suggested that it is better to add items on
buildings that do not look exactly like what is already there so you can tell what is
original. We will need to meet with the RHA.
The RHA would like to put in 4 housing units. That is the only way it would be cost
effective. Do we want to advertise anywhere else? There have been 12 enquiries
about the OPS, but no one at town hall has responded to them. The ad has not run in
the Advocate.
3. 1375 Main St.: Potential problems with wetlands. We need a site visit. The
developer paid $270,000 for the property. The developer wants to put 12 units on the
site. Virginia will get the engineer's report which states that the house is not savable.
4. Community Preservation Act: Board of Selectmen is creating a task force on
February 13. There will be one member from the commission. Jerry was asked to be
our representative and accepted. Clay will be the alternate.
5. The web site: Inventory is now on the town's web site. Roberta would like to
send a letter to the Board of Selectmen that it is in fact on the town's web site. Also
info should be given out at town hall about it. A letter to town manager to address
department heads about the inventory. The inventory needs a preface explaining
what the inventory is and about the by law.
6.
