Reading Historical Commission Minutes <br />February 01, 2005 on <br />Attending: Mark Cardono - Secretary Sharlene Reynolds Santo I " OU <br />Lt. Col. Wilbar Hoxie Roberta Sullivan -Acting Chair <br />Call to order 7:45 PM <br />Treasurer's Report: <br />Roberta requested authorization for money to buy supplies for the Archive Room and for photographs. <br />Sharlene moved that the Commission will authorize Roberta to spend $200 to purchase supplies. Mark <br />seconded the motion. Vote: 4 - 0 - 0. <br />Past Minutes Review: <br />Review minutes from December 27, 2004. Roberta moved that the Commission accept the minutes from <br />December 27, 2004 as amended. Sharlene seconded the motion. Vote: 4 - 0 - 0. <br />Review minutes from January 6, 2005. Mark moved that the Commission accept the minutes from January <br />6, 2005 as amended. Sharlene seconded the motion. Vote: 4 - 0 - 0. <br />CPDC Meeting: <br />Roberta and Sharlene attended the CPDC Meeting on January 24, 2005. The CPDC has not heard from <br />the owners of the Depot, except for the application for a 4 feet by 3 feet, black with goldleaf, wooden sign. <br />The owners were not present. The sign is specified in the application as a hanging sign. According to the <br />bylaw, the sign can only be mounted on the wall. The owners have not been cooperating/keeping in touch <br />with the Commission. The Commission is recommending that the sign aesthetically fit to the right of the <br />door for the coffee shop. <br />Carriage House Bylaw: <br />CPDC held a workshop meeting to work on the Carriage House bylaw. At the workshop, the Commission <br />presented a revised bylaw, which strengthened its preservation aspects. CPDC reviewed the bylaw and <br />had no objections. CPDC will support it and add necessary procedural wording. <br />The Commission will meet on February 15, 2005, with the CPDC, for the final version. The Commission <br />has provided a summary to Selectman to have the bylaw put on the warrant for the spring Town Meeting. <br />The spring warrant closes March 1, 2005. <br />Spence farm: <br />No demolition permits have been applied for yet, but it will be demolished soon. It is recommended that <br />Commission members should try to photograph the property. <br />Town Master Plan: <br />The Commission put together information for future preservation plans. Roberta read the section that the <br />Commission added. These revisions are to be presented at the Master Plan Meeting on February 7, 2005. <br />Harnden Street/Pleasant Street - Walgreens: <br />Roberta and Sharlene attended the January 25, 2005 CPDC Meeting. - Roberta spoke at the meeting and <br />said that the Commission will not release the demolition delay until the red brick and windows have been <br />resolved. CPDC is also concerned with excessive signage because, the Sign bylaw states that windows <br />can be filled up to 30% with signage. No resolution was determined. <br />Miscellaneous: <br />The Moved House Show will be at the Senior Center, at 7:30 PM on February 2 2005. <br />A woman brought in her collection of pictures of circus family that lived in Reading. She showed the <br />collection to Roberta and Sharlene.
