Reading Historical Commission Minutes <br />June 7, 2005 <br />Attending: <br />Virginia Adams - Chairperson Lt. Col. Wilbar Hoxie Potenial New Members: <br />Mark Cardono - Secretary Sharlene Reynolds Santo Linda Tuttle <br />Sally Hilgendorff List Roberta Sullivan George Doucette <br />Call to order 7:40 PM <br />Virginia read The Commission's Annual Report for 2004. <br />Past Minutes Review: <br />Review minutes from April 6, 2005. Sharlene moved that the Commission accept the minutes from April 6, <br />2005. Roberta seconded the motion. Vote: 5-0-0. <br />Treasurer's Report: <br />Warrants were signed for previously approved expenses. <br />Sharlene will take over as the Acting Treasurer while Roberta is away during the summer. <br />The Commission's budget for next year is $1000.00. <br />Sharlene moved that The Commission authorize $100 for printing the booklets and postcards, and for <br />refreshments for the Walking Tour of the Town Square. Wilbar seconded the motion. Vote: 5-0-0. <br />George reviewed the book The Commission purchased, titled "Massachusetts and First Period Houses". <br />Virginia will pick up the previously approved purchase of the book titled "Framed Houses of Massachusetts <br />Bay 1625-1725" at Borders Books. The book is quite technical. <br />Senior Work Program: <br />The Board for the Senior Work Program has decided The Commission is no longer eligible for workers <br />from the program. The Commission had made a lot of progress transcribing written records to computer <br />documents. The additional help will be missed. A suggestion was made to use The Commission's funds, <br />for the recording history of the Town, to pay for the services of the Senior Work Program. The Senior Work <br />Program would manage the workers. The workers are eligible for a maximum of $750/year off of their <br />taxes. Virginia would like to only have a half of a person for the year. A discussion of having a full person <br />or a half a person for a year ensued. <br />Sharlene moved that The Commission proceed <br />The Commission adjourned to The Selectmen's Room for appointments. <br />Sue Patterson and Karen Herrick were in attendance for he remainder of the meeting. <br />Appointments: <br />Virginia and Roberta were reappointed as Members. Sally was reappointed as an Associate Member. Sue <br />Patterson, Linda Tuttle, Kathy Greenfield, and Karen Herrick were newly appointed as Associate Members. <br />Public Outreach: <br />The booklet for the Walking Tour of the Town Square was reviewed and updated. <br />Volunteers are needed to speak during the tour. Refreshments like bottled water and cookies will need to <br />be purchased. <br />Family Day is June 25, 2005 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Volunteers are needed to cover the booth for <br />parts of the day. <br />Miscellaneous: <br />Roberta moved that The Commission appoint Sue Patterson and Kathy Greenfield to the West Street <br />Historic District as representatives for The Commission. Sharlene seconded the motion.
