The
original plan was that spacers would be used until the plaques were ready, but apparently we are
now expected to have the markers ready a week after the sidewalks are poured in early
September. It will take about 2 - 4 weeks to have them made. Funding is still an issue. Peter
Hechenbleikner doesn't know how much will be available from the project funding.
Suggestions were made to tap the Celebration Trust and the Down Town Steering Committee
for funding, along with our own. Angela also suggested contacting the Cultural Council.
Sharlene moved that the cost of the granite sidewalk markers be paid by the Reading Historical
Trust Fund moneys up to $5,000 with the understanding that other sources will be sought
including funds from the Streetscape project budget, Down Town Steering Committee,
Celebration Trust and the Reading Cultural Council. Virginia seconded the motion.
