Board of Health Meeting <br />Minutes <br />JUNE 24, 1999 <br />The meeting was called to order at 4:05 P.M. Reading Town Hall, Berger Room; and 16 <br />Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts by Chairman James J. Nugent.' Member Nancy <br />Carlson, and staff liaison Jane Fiore, Health Services Administrator were present. <br />The minutes of the May 13, 1999 meeting were accepted as read (vote 2:0:0 ) <br />New Business <br />• Massage Therapists interviewed: Amanda MaeGillivary granted license <br />expiration date- November 1, 1999. Temporary license 2:0:0 until candidate <br />passes National Exam. Rita Rice requests chair massage license. Voted 2:0:0 <br />VNA will have the right to third party pay or self pay by clients. The Board <br />voted 2:0:0 to amend 13.2.1 regulation passed 2:0:0. <br />• Andrea Wolf and Jason Giangregorio were interviewed for student massage <br />therapy license. Both will complete their internships at Wellness <br />Collaborative. Andrea temporary license expires 10/1/99 and Jason 11/99 vote <br />2:0:0. To grant license. <br />• Reading Grant Municipal - Joseph Connelly, Recreation Administrator <br />presented issue regarding the Grant Municipal Pool flow meter not circulating <br />water within 8 hours. The variance was granted to give permission to open the <br />pool with the stipulation water would be tested 6 times per day (regulations <br />require 4x - 435A6 CMR) for chemical adequacy during the pools 12 hours of <br />operation. Vote to grant 63 day variance for operation of Grant Municipal <br />Pool 2:0:0. 4 <br />• Tobacco Control program. The Board voted to accept the proposal to issue <br />plaques to vendors who do not sell tobacco products to minors during a full <br />calendar year. <br />• Report was given by the Health administrator for the last Youth Access <br />tobacco Compliance Check in Reading regarding Reading Quik Stop, <br />Crestview Exxon, and Reading Shell and Tire. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />• YMCA, pool plan reviewed to date. <br />• Budget FY2000 discussed <br />• Review of Coolidge cafeteria plans. Plans accepted by Board 2:0:0 Letter will. <br />be sent to School dept by Health Administrator. Question to be raised - is <br />food prep area to have air-conditioning? <br />• Well regulations tabled 2:0:0. <br />• Update on senior center roof, <br />• Discussion on Housing issue at 496 Main Street. Illegal apartment. Town <br />counsel conferred with Zoning Officer. Health following normal procedures <br />until tenant leaves premises. <br />
