- _ - <br />Board of Health Meeting <br />Minutes <br />June 8, 2000 <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. Reading Town Hall, Berger Room, and 16 <br />Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts by Chairman James J. Nugent, Members Nancy <br />Carlson, Colleen Henessey - Seferian and staff liaison Jane Fiore, Health Services <br />Administrator were present. <br />The minutes of the May 11, 2000 Nancy Carlson made a motion to accept the minutes as <br />read seconded by Colleen Seferian and approved as read 3:0:0. <br />Public hearing called to order at 6:10 p.m. by James J. Nugent, Chairman. <br />Legal notice of content of public hearing was read as: <br />Pursuant to Chapter 111, Sec. 31 of the Massachusetts General Laws The Reading <br />Board of Health in the Arnold Berger Room, Town Hall, 16 Lowell Street, <br />reading, MA 01867. During this Board of Health meeting discussion of the <br />proposed local Board of Health Body Piercing Regulations Sections 23.1-23.14. <br />Summary of the proposed regulations: The proposed Body Piercing rules and <br />regulations are necessary to protect the public's health by preventing disease <br />specifically including, but not limited to transmission of Hepatitis B and/or <br />Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV/AIDS). These rules and regulations shall <br />establish procedures for the permitting of all persons performing body piercing, <br />for the requirement of training courses in disease prevention and anatomy and <br />physiology, for regular inspections of the premises and the application of an <br />annual non-transferable permit for the piercer and establishment with the fee set <br />by the board of Health. For the revocation of the permit of any person or <br />establishment deemed in violation of the rules and regulations promulgated by <br />section 23 of the Reading Board of Health Regulations. <br />Chairman called for public comment. It was noted the public hearing had been posted in <br />Town Hall for 14 days and published in the Daily Times Chronicle 5/23/00 and 5/30/00. <br />No comment. There was no one in attendance for the public hearing. At 6:30 p.m. public <br />hearing was closed. <br />Motion to was made to accept the Body piercing regulation section 23.1 - 23.14 as read <br />was made by Nancy Carlson seconded by Colleen Henessey - Seferian. Voted 3:0:0. <br />Regulations passed as written. <br />Next order on business: <br />Flu clinic increase cost to cover possibility of room rental fees. Discussion and vote <br />will take place at August meeting after further information is collected. - <br />
