✓ <br />Board of Health Meeting <br />Minutes <br />May S, 2003 <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:05 P.M. Reading Town Hall, Berger Room, 16 <br />Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts, by James J. Nugent, Jr., Chairman, Colleen <br />Seferian, Vice Chair and Barbara Meade, secretary (excused) staff liaison Jane Fiore, <br />Health Services Administrator were present. <br />The minutes of the April 10, 2003 were accepted as read 2:0.0. <br />The Board received a letter of resignation from Jim Nugent. After 14 years of service to <br />the Town of the Board of Health. Jim will be making his home in New Hampshire. The <br />Board and the Administrator will miss his expertise and sense of humor. Congratulation <br />Jim and the best of luck on life's new adventures. <br />Next order of business: <br />• Tobacco program discussed. The state has a little more than one million dollars left in <br />the program where Reading stands with the project within the Andover Healthy <br />Communities remains unresolved. <br />• Landfill discussed. Pest management reports weekly. One neighbor reported to <br />Pesticide Bureau regarding actions of BOH and pest Management Company. All <br />information faxed to bureau including proposal and Safety Data sheets. No further <br />issue. <br />• Next order of business: Menomune clinic held May 2, 2003 45 students immunized <br />at Reading Memorial High School. Some difficulty with the high school setting up <br />appointments. Suggestions for next year program to offer information at a senior <br />parent night. And to insist on appointment 4 students at a time since the product <br />require 6-cc reconstitution with 10 minutes of use. <br />• Decision regarding Getty Gas Station and the sale of tobacco to minor was health <br />code. Getty will remove their tobacco product on May 5 through May 12. The <br />Tobacco program will handle the issues. <br />• Administrative report : <br />• Report on discussion with MASSPRO application for reimbursement of flu <br />and pneumonia immunizations. The Board was informed of the limited <br />finance of the state and therefore limited supply of the vaccine. <br />Housing issues discussed <br />Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Jim Nugent at 7:25 seconded by Colleen <br />Seferian and voted 3:0:0. <br />Next meeting June 12, 2003 <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Pane M.
