L <br />Board of Health Meeting <br />Minutes <br />February 9, 2006 <br />r~ u <br />CLE R,K <br />E~~aSS. <br />.L ii'u~ of-~ ir'°-'a i~•_ <br />The Board of Health meeting was called to order on February 9, 2006 by Chairmen Colleen <br />Seferian at 6:00 pm at the Town Hall, Berger Room. Those present at the meeting were <br />Barbara Meade, David Singer and staff liaison Jane Fiore. <br />Business: <br />• Minutes of January 9, 2006 were accepted as read (vote3:0:0.) <br />• Barbara Meade reported on the Logan Airport Fly Over Committee. No information or <br />complaints forwarded to the Town. The minutes and notification of any changes <br />effecting Reading continue to be the operating procedure. <br />• Substance Abuse prevention Community Initiative report from Barbara Meade: <br />o The membership remains stable attendance at weekly meetings very good <br />o The group has increase awareness of the issue. <br />o Presentation was offered to the group on the Winchester model by the director <br />of Winchester's program Liz Silva. <br />o The group also discussed a community assessment to gather data. Perhaps use <br />the hospital trust fund. <br />o A brief video was presented by the Police Chief. The video was informative. <br />o Following Barbara's report Colleen Seferian offered to cover as the <br />representative for the Board of Health if Barbara was unable to attend a meeting. <br />o Next group meeting will plan and vote on the "charges" (goals) of the group. <br />At 6:30 pm the Board voted to adjourn the general meeting and called to order the public <br />hearing on Board of Health regulation Section 24 Grease Trap Installation and Maintenance. <br />The Chairman, Colleen Seferian called to order public hearing on Section 24 Board of Health <br />regulations Grease Traps. <br />Read into the record the following: <br />Pursuant to Chapter 111 Section 31 of the Massachusetts General Laws the Reading <br />Board of Health at 6: 30 pm on February 9,. 2006 <br />Summary - The purpose of the Grease Trap Regulations is to protect resident, <br />businesses and the environment within the town boundaries from blockages of the Town <br />sanitary sewer system caused by grease discharged fi°om food service establishments <br />located in the Town of Reading. These rules and regulations shall establish procedures <br />for the installation and maintenance of grease traps at food establishments. The <br />purposed regulation includes enforcement and inspectional procedures as well as a <br />provision for variance requests. <br />
