RECEIVED <br />TD CLERK <br />READING, MASS. <br />Board of Health Meeting <br />Minutes <br />December 14, 2006 <br />yll JAN I I A 10= 55 <br />The Board of Health meeting was called to order on December 14, 2006 by Chairmen <br />Barbara Meade at 6:00 pm at the Town Hall, Berger Room. Those present at the meeting <br />were Colleen Seferian, David Singer and staff liaison Jane Fiore. <br />Business: <br />• Minutes of October 12, 2006 were accepted as read 3:0:0. Minutes of November <br />16, 2006 tabled. <br />Next order of Business <br />CDC poster on "cover your cough" project discussed <br />o All town reception areas have poster in plastic frame with pump bottle of <br />Purell. That includes 23 spaces - Town Clerk, Finance, Assessor's Office, <br />recreation /DPW, Engineering, Library - children's room, reference desk, <br />and circulation desk, Fire and Police Departments and all school building <br />offices. The health staff is waiting for the response from elder services if <br />they are willing to have 8xl 1 sign on senior center desk. <br />o This project has had a very positive response from municipal and school <br />staff. Total cost from revolving fund $50. The outcome will hopefully <br />encourage good cough protocol and frequent hand washing during flu <br />season. All Board members supportive by this prevention project. <br />o Barbara Meade suggested all school bathrooms have the CDC poster. The <br />Health Administrator will connect with the school's nursing supervisor, <br />Lynn Dunn with the continuation of the project in all school building <br />bathroom <br />• Keeping of Dogs Bylaw and the Board of Health responsibility of kennel <br />inspections. The Health Administrator reported all private dog owners were <br />notified by the Town Clerk's office that the new license for them is $150 and <br />requires an inspection by the Board of Health. <br />o Background information - as discussed previously with the Board and <br />Chairman the BOH continues to inspect and license the commercial kennels <br />annual and respond to all complaints. The license is issued by BOH on July <br />1 - June 30 (not in sequence with the Town Clerk dog licenses April - <br />April). The BOH commercial kennel license is $100. The two kennels have <br />on average 50 - 60 dogs per day. The inspection protocol covers <br />immunization record, noise control measures, animal and public safety, <br />septic hauler and dumpster contracts, pest management contracts, review of <br />all sanitization procedures of feeding and watering and cleaning procedures. <br />
