Board of Health Meeting Minutes December 14, 2006 yll JAN I I A 10= 55 The Board of Health meeting was called to order on December 14, 2006 by Chairmen Barbara Meade at 6:00 pm at the Town Hall, Berger Room. Those present at the meeting were Colleen Seferian, David Singer and staff liaison Jane Fiore. Business: • Minutes of October 12, 2006 were accepted as read 3:0:0. Minutes of November 16, 2006 tabled. Next order of Business CDC poster on "cover your cough" project discussed o All town reception areas have poster in plastic frame with pump bottle of Purell. That includes 23 spaces - Town Clerk, Finance, Assessor's Office, recreation /DPW, Engineering, Library - children's room, reference desk, and circulation desk, Fire and Police Departments and all school building offices. The health staff is waiting for the response from elder services if they are willing to have 8xl 1 sign on senior center desk. o This project has had a very positive response from municipal and school staff. Total cost from revolving fund $50. The outcome will hopefully encourage good cough protocol and frequent hand washing during flu season. All Board members supportive by this prevention project. o Barbara Meade suggested all school bathrooms have the CDC poster. The Health Administrator will connect with the school's nursing supervisor, Lynn Dunn with the continuation of the project in all school building bathroom • Keeping of Dogs Bylaw and the Board of Health responsibility of kennel inspections. The Health Administrator reported all private dog owners were notified by the Town Clerk's office that the new license for them is $150 and requires an inspection by the Board of Health. o Background information - as discussed previously with the Board and Chairman the BOH continues to inspect and license the commercial kennels annual and respond to all complaints. The license is issued by BOH on July 1 - June 30 (not in sequence with the Town Clerk dog licenses April - April). The BOH commercial kennel license is $100. The two kennels have on average 50 - 60 dogs per day. The inspection protocol covers immunization record, noise control measures, animal and public safety, septic hauler and dumpster contracts, pest management contracts, review of all sanitization procedures of feeding and watering and cleaning procedures.
