v <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING RECEIVED <br />MINUTESG CLERK <br />January 10, 2008 READING, Per SS- <br />The Board of Health meeting was called to order on January 1 Q q:-CD 0 bP(--L 1n <br />Barbara Meade at the Berger Room, Town Hall. Those present at the meeting were <br />Barbara Meade, Colleen Seferian, and Dr. David Singer. <br />In attendance, Ron Beauregard Tobacco Control Program, Leslie Carabello, Public <br />Health Nurse, Joan Vitale Health Inspector and Larry Ralndin Health Services <br />Administrator. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Minutes November 8, 2007 were read and accepted 3:0:0 <br />NEXT ORDER OF BUSINESS <br />Certificate of Appreciation <br />The Board voted to present a Certificate of Appreciation to Dianne Luther RN, who <br />provided interim Public Health Services, while the Department was without a Public <br />Health Nurse. <br />Appointments: <br />Larry Ramdin, Health Services Administrator, was appointed Milk Inspector on a vote of <br />the Board - 3:0:0 <br />The Board voted to nominate Larry Ramdin Health Services Administrator, as the <br />Reading representative on the Eastern Middlesex Mosquito Control Project. A letter <br />signed by the Barbara Meade, Chair, nominating Mr. Ramdin will be forwarded to Mark <br />Buffone, Chairman of the State Reclamation and Mosquito Control Board. <br />Public Health Nurse <br />Leslie Carabello, RN, Public Health Nurse (PHN) assumed duties on January 2, 2008. <br />Ms Carabello was previously a PHN in Danvers, most recently she was the emergency <br />preparedness coordinator in the town of Amesbury. She described her qualifications <br />experience and vision for the PHN role. She was welcomed by the Board. <br />Tobacco Control Presentation <br />Ron Beauregard, Tobacco Control Officer presented a review of smoking regulations to <br />the Board. He presented a number of scenarios but advised against regulating against <br />individuals. The Board discussed the issues surrounding use of Tobacco around doorways <br />and entrances and recognized that it is a problem The recommendations were well <br />received and the Board, will continue its discussion on amending the tobacco control <br />regulations to create buffer zones around buildings. <br />
