BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING <br />MINUTES <br />November 18, 2009 <br />RECEIVED <br />TOWN CLERK <br />READING, MASS. <br />The Board of Health meeting was called to order on November 18, 2009 at 5:30 pm lao, DEC 15 P 1: <br />the Berger Room, Town Hall, by Barbara Meade Chair. Those present at the meeting <br />were Barbara Meade Chairman, Dr David Mitchell Singer, and Colleen Seferian. In <br />attendance: Larry Ramdin, Health Services Administrator (Health Director)/ Staff <br />Liaison. Sarah Blumenstock- Girrell- The Goddard School, Ben Hitchcock- RCASA and <br />Connie DeBenedetto, RCASA <br />Minutes <br />Minutes of meetings held October 14 were read and approved with corrections 3:0:0 <br />New license: The Goddard School Torre Street <br />Larry Ramdin presented the application of the Goddard School for a food permit. The <br />school's plans were reviewed and were found to meet the requirements of the Food Code. <br />The foods that will be served are snacks and milk. Food will be stored in a commercial <br />refrigerator. Approval of the permit was recommended. The Board asked Ms. <br />Blumenstock about the school, the meals that will be served and she advised that it was <br />daycare type operation and only snacks will be served. The Board vote and approved the <br />Food permit 3:0:0 <br />RCASA Youth Crew <br />RCASA Youth Crew member Ben Hitchcock and Connie DeBenedetto, RCASA member <br />were welcomed to the meeting. They asked to address the Board, on their work. The <br />Youth crew is currently conducting a survey on behalf of the Massachusetts tobacco <br />Control program to establish tobacco usage levels in Reading. The crew has had success <br />with the survey and asked if they could receive a letter of support form the Board and <br />Ben Hitchcock was advised that the Board will issue the letter, details will be worked out <br />between Erica McNamara RCASA Director and Larry Ramdin Health Director. The <br />Board congratulated Ben and the RCASA youth crew for their exemplary efforts and <br />noted that it was quite heartening to see youth so involved in their health. <br />Administrative Report <br />The Health Administrator presented the Department report and it was accepted 3:0:0. <br />Flu Clinic Update <br />The seasonal flu clinic was held on Saturday November 14, and 578 vaccines were <br />administered. We are expecting an additional supply of seasonal flu vaccines and once in <br />hand we will advertise a seasonal flu clinic, to be held at the Parker Middle School. <br />H1N1 clinics for pregnant women care givers of infants under 6 months and spouses <br />/partners of women in their third trimester of pregnancy are currently being vaccinated by <br />
