RCC Reading Cultural Council <br />Town Manager's Office - Reading Town Hall - Reading, MA 01867> <br />Reading Cultural Council Meeting Minutes September 6, 2000 a <br />7:30 pm at the Reading Public Library ' V Z:y <br />Members present: Roberta McRae, Ann Rotondo, Joyce Holt, Allison Dasilva, Anna <br />Roberta McRae called the meeting to order and introduced new member Anna hJ <br />Allison Dasilva was introduced to the Council later during the meeting. <br />Roberta McRae explained how Reading Cultural Council funds are derived from the <br />Massachusetts Cultural Council and can vary from year to year. <br />A discussion of the various possibilities for fundraising in addition to the state funding ensued. <br />The availability of and differences between a local council grant and a PASS grant were <br />discussed. <br />Roberta McRae provided an overview of the grant process, including a timetable. <br />The grant amount available for the 2000-2001 year is $10,274.00. <br />A general discussion of the Cultural Recognition Award was held and Council members were <br />asked to be thinking of candidates for the Award. <br />Discussion on the following topics was held: <br />1. Posting of meeting notices at the Town Hall; <br />2. Grants are announced through the local state legislators press offices; <br />3. Grant forms and guidelines are available through the MCC website; <br />4. Grants will be accepted until 5:00 pm on October 16, 2000; <br />5. Grant packages are due at the Massachusetts Cultural Council on December 15, 2000; <br />Rosalie DeQuattro (978-266-9826) is Reading's liasion to the MCC and her <br />Email address is: rosiedq@aol.com; <br />6. Streamlining status needs to be maintained by new members; attendance at training <br />session is mandatory; discussion regarding whether Rosalie would come to Reading. <br />7. Focus groups were successful and the Council should consider offering them again <br />in the spring. <br />The next meeting is October 18, 2000 when the grant books will be distributed for consideration <br />by the Council members. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Joyce M.
