1L~
READING CULTURALTt[i ASS.
SEPTEMBER 4, 200;igf `
CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order at 7:07 PM.
Members in attendance were Liz Whitelam, Anne Hooker, Karyn Storti, Kathy Kelly,
Lorraine Horne, Patrick Holland, Jackie Steele, and Vicky Schubert.
MINUTES - The minutes of the June meeting were reviewed and approved.
There was no TREASURER'S REPORT
CORRESPONDENCE - Jackie Steele distributed correspondence received during the
summer recess, which included a reimbursement request from Joshua Eaton and a
financial statement from Town Hall.
CHAIR'S REPORT:
Liz Whitelam reported that the Mass. Cultural Council has indicated that our allocation
for the coming year will be $5,560. Final notification will be made in October.
Grant applications are now available. LW will distribute them in appropriate locations
such as Town Hall and the public library. She will also see that the application is
available through our own website and the Cultural Connection website. It was suggested
that Judy Clark of the Reading Antiquarian Society had expressed interest.
A press release was scheduled for publication in mid-September announcing the
availability of applications and seeking volunteers to serve on the RCC.
LW will follow up with people who expressed interest in the RCC during the Town Day
event.
It was proposed and agreed that the meeting scheduled for November 20 would be
changed to November 27. It was noted that the June 10 meeting would be held in the
upstairs room at the Police Station, or moved to the Senior Center due to a scheduling
conflict with the regular first floor meeting room.
LW announced that this summer marks the 3-year point for community feedback. A
future agenda item will be to determine how best to gather feedback before the end of
2008.
ADJOURNED - 7:20 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Vicky Schubert
