R'_ Eb <br />Reading Cultural Council __O": <br />r <br />September 29, 2008 R <br />MEETING CALLED TO ORDER - 7:30 pm 20 S EP 9 b P S' 0 8 <br />MEMBERS PRESENT - Liz Whitelam, Vicky Schubert, Lorraine Horn, Sudie Fay, Peggy <br />Caouette, Patrick Holland <br />MINUTES of the June 9, 2008 meeting were approved. <br />INTRODUCTIONS <br />A round of introductions included new member Peggy Caouette and prospective member Lynn <br />Cassinari. <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br />In addition to thank-you notes, the council received its first two applications for the 2008-2009 <br />grant cycle, as well as a corrected reimbursement request from the Cultural Connection. <br />COMMUNITY INPUT SURVEY <br />LW reported that she had output and reviewed the survey results, but had not brought a printed <br />copy to the meeting, so deferred discussion to the October meeting. <br />GRANT PROCESS <br />LW explained the timetable and proposal review process for the benefit of new members and <br />reported that the RCC's current allocation was $6,100, a slight increase from the previous year. <br />LH mentioned a "Yellow Bus" grant category just introduced by the Massachusetts Cultural <br />Council. LW agreed to learn more about it and report to the Council at the October meeting. <br />PUBLICITY <br />LW noted that the council had received "above the fold" coverage in the Chronicle announcing <br />the recipients of funding for 2007-2008. With applications for this year due by October 15, the <br />call for proposals has been publicized on the Community Connection website and has been sent <br />to both the Chronicle and the Advocate. LW agreed to send a copy of the press release to council <br />members. Applications are available online as well as at Town Hall and at the Library. SF agreed <br />to submit the press release to Reading Community Television for inclusion in its between-shows <br />community bulletin board. <br />OFFICERS <br />After a review of the roles of council officers it was VOTED and AGREED that: <br />• Liz Whitelam would continue to serve as chairperson <br />• Vicky Schubert would continue to serve at secretary <br />• Lorraine Horn would assume the role of treasurer <br />It was suggested that we entertain nominations for the remaining open roles at the next meeting. <br />Next meeting scheduled for Monday, October 27 at 7:30, in Police Station Community Room. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Vicky Schubert <br />
