Council on Aging <br />March 13, 2000 <br />Pleasant Street Center <br />49 Pleasant Street Reading, MA 01867-2684 <br />Present: ZOO! AUG 22 A 10 25 <br />Mary Andreola, Dave Brigham, Gladys Cail, Betty Cronin, Edwina Kasper, <br />Beth Moore, Joanne O'Brien, Gay Williams, Member Dick Anderson, Lois Bond <br />Excused: <br />Dottye Foxon, Joanne Wooldridge <br />Chairperson Mary Andreola called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. <br />Minutes of from the January 10, 2000 were moved by Joanne O'Brien and seconded by <br />Betty Cronin. 8-0-0. There was no February meeting due to a predicted lack of quorum. <br />Financial Report was reviewed and moved by Gladys Cail and seconded by Gay <br />Williams. 8-0-0. <br />The Administrator's report was reviewed moved by Dave Brigham and seconded by Gay <br />Williams subject to corrections. 8-0-0. <br />Members reviewed the 1999 list of programs and activities. RES organized, co-led or <br />participated in 183 programs that benefited the community. There were an average of 15 <br />programs a month in addition to the daily activities such as nutrition programs, <br />transportation, volunteer activity and client assistance. Suggestions included listing <br />Greater Boston Legal Services on the calendar; creating a master list of programs by the <br />month; attendance sheets at programs/meetings; importance of graphics in Ramblings. <br />Dick Anderson reported on the MVES Board of Directors' meeting. He reviewed MVES <br />goals and objectives and presented a "Fast Facts" paper about FY2001 Mass. Home Care <br />budget requests. He also shared a Senior Health Care Coalition Needs survey. It included <br />questions about day services, transportation, various forms of health care, household <br />maintenance needs, in-home services and financial services. Material will be available for <br />the April meeting. <br />Dave Brigham reported that Odette Kent is leaving Peter Sanborn Place as the Resident <br />Service Coordinator. <br />Mary Andreola introduced the MCOA North Shore Regional Conference on March 29. <br />Interested Board members will complete applications by March 20. <br />Discussion of the Senior Center self-assessment process focused on the first chapter that <br />is Purpose. Development of a Center's purpose involves a mission statement and goals <br />
